I didn't know where to post this, and I don't want to hijack this thread.....but I can't start a new one due to my post count.... Anyway, just read an article about Colt Mccoy's workout, so here's some speculation on my part. Teams seem to be very impressed with Colt McCoy, and I think this may be a great way for us to be able to trade down if nobody falls to us. I could definitely see a team like Carolina or something trading back up into the first round to nab him before anyone else does, and hopefully we can net some extra picks. Also, the threat of Minnesota behind us nabbing a QB can potentially convince a team to trade up to our pick, so we're not in a horrible spot for trading down.
Not that it would have changed my decision, but my delivery was somewhat compromised by the foul mood I as in all last night. I still would have knocked him off for a few days for acting like a turd, but I apologize to everyone if I came off as an asshole. Either way, he deserved it...
It's definitely a possibility. I'm hearing St Louis really like the workout. Which means they may trade out of the 1st spot to a mid to lower 1st round spot and take him then which may prevent above from happening...
Good post. I can't remember where I heard it, probably Mayock on NFLN - they were talking about the new draft format taking the edge away from the better drafting teams like Baltimore. There won't be as many panic picks or panic trade-ups and the teams that aren't as good at drafting will have more time to work out their draft boards and there will probably be less overdrafting in the 2nd and 3rd round. They actually used the Jets as an example, citing the trade-up they made for Greene last year, saying that if it had been this type of format last year, Tanny doesn't have an entire night to mull over moving up to grab Greene.
The multi-day draft doesn't affect the first round. Teams will still try to scramble into the round based on availability of players high on their boards who slip. But I agree, I'd prefer to see round 1 and 2 on the same day.
last year's set up was fine. It was actually the best way to do it. The important rounds to the somewhat knowledgeable fan are rounds 1 and 2. They wouldn't know anyone beyond that. The draftniks watch day two because they know the names. Now the NFL expects casual fans to get together, sit around while eating chips and watching each round from beginning to end. The sentence said most in that room is "why didn't they take Taylor Mays?" I want the ratings to be so bad for the NFL that they go back to the old way. They really think that people are going to sacrifice watching their favorite TV shows for the draft? They can get the info online of who their team picked. people will want to watch CSI or whatever is on. They may check to see the picks in between commercials. Goodell hasn't a clue.
I wonder if they will give time back to teams since they've partitioned the draft. I think they shortened it to 10 minutes a pick down from 15. I bet they give them 15 minutes again. ND- Yeah Thursday and Friday evening? I would much rather have it the way it used to be, team #1 went on the clock at 12:00 Noon on Saturday...you could make a day of it. This is just crap...
I haven't seen any indication that they're changing the timing. If anything, we might see Round 3 bumped up to 7 minutes per pick, but I doubt they're going to extend the timing for the first round while they're trying to grab a prime time audience.
:rofl: that had me dying but i think it gets cancelled out by the fact he makes bad decisions at any hour of the day no matter how much rest hes had.
