Excellent analysis GH. Not to e-kiss your ass but I always look forward to reading your posts cause its good stuff.

The point on slot receivers is one I've been harping on for a little while. Why take Tate with a first round pick when guys like Shipley and Gilyard will be there in the mid rounds?

I think we stay put unless as you say, theres someone still on the board that the early round 2'ers want....then we will see some action, and suddenly 29 becomes very valuable.
Tanny is the consummate poker player that always leaves with a collection of shirts.

With the board you had in front of you at the time when your picks were up i'd say you did a great job. I'm sure if that was the way the 1st round would unfold Tanny would be trading back 100% no doubt about it. I know I'm a newbie but I have been lurking around the site for a while now and you definately know your shit when it comes to football and I see why you are one the most respected posters on this board. Between you, WW85, MrE, Jabba, and a few other people ya'll have taught me everything I have needed to know about this years draft and I thank you for it.

    Really?

A comment from a newbie with 22 posts.

I guess you must know me real well from your short tenure at TGG.

^ the same dude seems to show up every year... or at least if feels that way.

Some new guy who thinks he knows all and challenges the pillars of the draft forum... they never stay long.

I know enough that in your short tenure as a moderator, you have threatened to close more threads that anyone else I've seen. Like a rookie cop on his first traffic stop.

Anyway, my comment about big heads has to do with the monster egos on this site. It's a good place for breaking info for those who don't have time to search through various sites, but you have to be willing to deal with the egos. There are a few good guys on here, and actually Jabba is one of them, so I shouldn't have lumped him in. But, from what I've seen, most of the regulars on here can be pretty thickheaded. They gang together like the Varsity football team in a bad 80's movie and pick on the new kid- and I'm not talking about myself. I watched two guys go at it about Leon Washington today for about 4 pages. Nothing but egotistical headbutting nonsense.

If a thread deserves to be closed, it should be.

Hurricane, great thread. I read it earlier today and have been thinking about it all day.

I was essentially saying the same thing yesterday in another thread and I'll rehash now.

Based on the Jets' needs (in my eyes) O-Line, D-Line...at 29, the Jets would have to take BPA and the player would most likely be at a skill position at that point in time so they would not fill a need. It would be gluttonous to stay at 29 at that point if you can't fill your need.

We haven't heard much about the Jets being "in love" with a player, so I doubt they trade up...I see a trade back with Leon involved.

First, ...you don't know me at all.

I'm not "thickheaded"....I get along with everyone on this forum.

I've been accused of 'being too nice".

When you are passionate and have knowledge about a subject , like the draft, you have to take a stand and be consisitent.

I've put out 2 warnings about closing threads, since I've been a mod, that we're totally warranted....that's it.

So stop the "Rookie Cop" bullshit.

    Don't question my Mod authority...and that's a warning.

Tread lightly your tenure may be shorter than you think.

You are welcome to participate in a civil manner. Extra curricular comments, personal in nature, will get you in trouble.

If you picture WW85 cleaning a gun as you read his post aloud, it makes it about a billion times more awesome.

Also, read it in a southern accent.

    haha

    good post GH

I actually liked the Sapp pick with what the board was. 29 is a odd pick this yr. I only think its because theres 7 3-4 teams in the tail end of the 1st.

Sapp's motor is insane and he seems like a Rex Ryan player 200 percent as cliche as it sounds. I was actually bs'ng with Badger and he told me on the mock draft the pick was Sapp and I said it made sense for the previously mentioned reasons and many more. I try to watch a good amount of NCAA football but living down here now I get mostly ACC ball and I've seen most of his career.

the ONLY thing i might disagree with is if we cant go RB late were not doing it.

my line of thinking is address OL depth or front seven depth with the 1st rd pick and nab Hardesty, Gerhart, Tate in the 2nd rd. I forgot if they were all off the board for you in the mock draft so I'm not bashing you at all. thats just the draft plan that would make me happy come draft day.

as many holes for depth we have all over the roster Greene's running style will make him prone to nagging injuries and this draft is just the year of the "ground and pound" back. if that makes any sense.

alot of quality bigger backs in this draft.

now we can not address it at all and thats fine cause we could use talent at any position.

overall though I liked your reasoning and the picks were pretty nice given the way the board fell to you.

    kudos

Thanks for the positive comments everyone, but I'm just trying to put into words what I'm sure everyone's thinking.

"OOHH. GH you're sooo smart...giggle teehee....." Wow, that's sad.

It's really nothing worth getting all worked up about. If you don't like the egos, it's not that hard to ignore them. It's such a waste of energy to get pissed that there are some big personalities here, it's a message board. It's not the New York Times.

You must have mistaken WW85 for me...

I'm the asshole mod with the itchy trigger finger, and don't forget it. You're very fortunate to have pissed off WW85, who happens to be one of the nicer posters on the entire board. I, on the other hand, don't take bullshit lightly. While I usually don't like to step on another mod's toes, I don't think WW85 will mind one bit. After going through your post history, I see that you really came in to ruffle feathers. That's one hell of an ego you got, and if you want to stick around after your ban is up, I suggest you start acting like you want to be a contributor instead of calling respected posters here a bunch of know-it-all's for having a different opinion other than yours.

The question now is, are you legitimately here to contribute....or just to fling shit? Let us know when you get back from your vacation....

Is there ANY chance Sergio Kindle drops to us? Been watching some tape of him and I REALLY like him. Think he would be an asset to our defense.

There's definitely a chance. I'd say less than 50%, but I've seen mocks with him falling into early round 2.

see this is why Scik and I can't both be mods at the same time ever.

You can't have two Mods carrying .50cal machine guns mowing people down. Thats too much for one board to take.

    Good job Scik.
