I think we'll be screwed hard for this season, but I really think that Ainge is going to be a good one in this league. Before we traded for Jenkins, I wanted him with our 3rd. I was surprised he was still available in the 5th. Oh and I'm still a big Clemens supporter, I just think Ainge sees a lot of hate thrown his way for no particular reason.
tom brady is going to get knocked around so badly this year he will leave ne and sign with the jets just to avoid another season of pace and gholston.
You guys can all forget about Pennington being able to help this team on the field. Let's just get that out of the way right now. He's a dead man walking. That leaves us with Clemens and (ack) Ainge. I watched a lot of college ball last year when I was laid up from my bike accident, and I saw Ainge play. Color me totally unimpressed. He was barely good enough at that level. I cannot see how he makes any impact whatsoever at this level. Clemens? While I don't hold out a lot of hope for him, he could develop into a servicable QB. Look, you either have it or you don't, and he don't. Sorry, but that is just the way it is. I'm afraid this is going to be another long season.
If KC will suck? before Herm they had the Number 1 offense. Last year they were in the bottom 5 of 66 offensive categories. Herm can turn the Colts offense into cement - Worst xo's coach ever. Great reverend speeches though
If they suck we will most likely have a high draft pick so either draft one or trade a 2 for brady quinn. Personally imo KC will develop tho, he has a sick offense around him now. Really good offensive line (Rt im not sold YET which makes it not great) Great Wr between a healthy coles and Cotch and the addition of a dynamic te in Dustin Keller. Good running game between Jones and Washington. This year is put up or shut up. He will put up.
You guys have to visualize a team that takes 80% of the pressure that was on the QB last year OFF. This new team will concentrate on dominating the line of scrimmage, knocking down the DL so the RBs can run over the DBs and go on to score. The QB becomes more of a conductor and is less of a guy expected to carry all his team mates on his back, staggering across the field because everybody else has fallen down and can't get up. When this team takes all this pressure off the QBs, then they will have ample opportunity to run the play called. They will have a chance to read and take advantage of what they find. Kellen will have a chance to develop. Chad will have a chance to follow through. All because this team is winning on the line of scrimmage regularly, and the RBs are averaging 6 to 8 yards per carry because of this dominance. Makes a big difference in the QB play.
True. 95% of all qbs have terrible first years. And if you look at most hall of fame quarterbacks, you'll notice most of them had bad if not mediocre first few years. Clemens needs at least another year, or maybe two to show what he has. Let's not give up on him yet.
I don't know... when I hear things like Ainge has a hard time hitting receivers on screen passes that makes me nervous. He sounds like a mediocre QB from what I've read from supposed fans of Tennessee, I just find it hard to get too excited about this guy. Then again, I have never actually seen the dude play, so I guess I don't have that much to go on.
Manning was drafted to an awful team. He was the beginning of the Colts turnaround. Once he was surrounded by quality players, he too became a quality player. The theory with Clemens now is that he is surrounded by quality talent, and thus should play like a quality QB. He obviously is not going to plateau this year, that is ridiculous to think. But he should be able to progress as a QB, complete lots of passes, and win football games. It is not too premature to ask that much of him.
We could have had woodson in the fifth rd! He was only a top ten pick until the workout warrior combines made his stock drop.
