this is a good post. i think its safe to say that our defense is performing well enough that if the offense were able to put pressure on the other teams in the form of points and long sustained drives the team would have won a few more games this year.

that being said, this defense would look a hell of a lot better with a consistent pass rush. the d seems to get a lot of pressure but there are a lot of moments where the pass rush is nonexistent. really the team needs somebody who can consistently get the the qb on the line, and can be effective in a 3 man rush. once that happens our blitzing lbs and backs will start getting to the qb more consistently as well.

we are now an above average defensive team and against certain opponents average.

It's the reality and the state of the team at the moment.

my analsyis is based on knowing what wins championships, and right now this team would get taken to school by the Steelers,Ravens, or Pats in the playoffs. not to mention playing a team like the packers or saints.

its great to be top 5 top 10 whatever. having revis, any coach whos supposed to be a defensive mind better place numbers in that range.

my analysis, points out why we have those back breaking plays to spite what otherwise would be a good defensive showing.

you dont have to agree with the philosophy of what i observe. But I know what I see and I know while it will look good on the average it does not get things done in crunch time.

hell im one of the few people who didnt blame our defense for losing to the Broncos.

that last drive was actually rex ryans fault for switching his scheme on that last drive. they had called contain plays all game and stifled Tebow. they add an extra db, he buys more times and gets away with throws.

not to mention they had one of our Safeties setting the edge on that last TD run we gave up to lose. I shouldnt have to explain why that is retarded

listen you guys can point to stat rankings all you want but if were talking about this defense being able to overcome the Jeckyll/Hyde offense we have, or a championship calibre opposing Offense.

I stand by every damn word ive said in this thread

If you go back and check, Denver' ran the entire last drives offenes with an empty backfield, something they hadn't done all game, and the Jets had no answer.

yet Tebow who had been shitcanning passes all night cause of the original gameplan which had worked.

had more time to throw cause of the change.

Tim Tebow cant make a 3rd read so him going empty has less of a x's and o's effect.

Rex Ryan just has a big old fat DB boner and i guess we have to accept it. even though it seems to be this defenses downfall

You would think that would be the case. Look at the first half of 2009 though, when the Jets were definitely scaring the NFL on defense before Kris Jenkins went down. They were also getting run all over.

I think the thing that changed is that the Jet's defense became predictable and a few players began to slow down and suddenly it's just an above average defense not a great one.
