I've noticed that the majority of Jet fans who live in NYC are rooting for the pats cuz apparently there are a lot of bandwagon Giant fans and they talk smack to jet fans. But a lot of Jet fans who don't live in NYC are rooting for the giants. Interesting. When I was young I went to manhattan and overheard a woman talking to her friend about how she got in an argument with someone about who was more "New York". I remember thinking that was so stupid. If that's the attitude of giant fans I can see why it annoys gang green.
You sound like a homer. Of course EVERY team has bandwagon fans. I would think it's a huge stretch to say the majority of the Giants or jets fan base is bandwagon since both teams sell out and have devout followings even in bad times. Jets fans were less "seen" before 2008 (when they got Brett Favre) there was no juice. In 2009 and 2010, one could argue that jets fans came out of the wood work. Were you listening to WFAN last year when the jets fans were calling up with the "who runs NY now" talk? Please don't pretend like they didn't. The HC wrote a book about it.
Also; Is more knowledgeable not understanding what cap space is? Because I hear some doozies from jets fans calling up Francessa regarding Santonio Holmes. I don't extrapolate that to generalize an entire fan base though, partly because I'm not bitter and partly because it's obviously unsound logic. jets fans were generally sticking it to the Giants from 2009 up to Dec. 24th 2011 at 5 pm. With all that talk, why wouldn't it go back the other way?
Good comebacks. First, I admit I'm a "little " aggravated about this. I've been fighting this Jets-Giants thing since Jan 12, 1969:wink: Second, are you a Giants fan? Because if you are, and you joined a Jet board (one week before your team is in the SB, BTW) and you call me a homer, aren't you just proving my point? And if you're a Jet fan, why call me a homer? Isn't that the purpose of this board? Finally, about the cap... who really understands it? Do you? Any fan who really understands it should be working in football!
I'm a fan of logic. I understand enough to know what releasing him does to it and how it's not reasonable to think they should release him. It's not a video game.
If you're talking about Santonio Holmes or Bart Scott or Calvin Pace, most people on this board, which has been going on for a long time before you joined just a few days ago, are well aware of the cap implications regarding keeping vs cutting these guys. You'll find this is a pretty informed board, and they probably have a deeper understanding of the cap than your simplistic view. I still think that the average fan still doesn't really understand the cap, though. And as for logic, you haven't answered the very logical question of why a Giant fan would join a Jet board one week before the Giants are playing in the Super Bowl.
At least the Giants had to endure the league's toughest eight-game streak and arguably the toughest overall schedule. The Pats I feel are more entitled; at least Giants fans criticize their quarterback when deserved.
At the end of the day I cannot root for a Boston area team over a NY team. Can't do it. And btw the reason why Giant fans are so obnoxious is cus of Rex.
Very true. I'm starting to despise the Giants, mostly because of idiotic fans that throw shit in your face. I was in full support of the Giants in '07 to beat the pats. I'm freinds with many Giants fans. Always debated, never trashed thier team and always got the same respect back. Most of them hate Rex and spew hate for the Jets more than ever before. I never trashed the Giants until these last 4 or 5 weeks. I'm being prodded on a daily basis. Right now I'm 51% in favor of Giants winning. The next douchebag vaGina fan that taunts me is going to push me other the threshold.
The Giants fans deserve it less, at least NE has consistely had top teams, the Giants would be a 9-7 team winning a SB 4 years after being a 10-6 team.
I love these posts questioning "fan integrity." Because that's definitely a measurable metric. You do realize the Patriots have sold out every home game since 1994, right? Not that anyone is counting but that's about 17 years. And the streak predates their first SB win by about seven.
To be fair that coincided w/ Parcells and the excitement around him rebuilding that team and you did reach the SB in 1996 though obviously you didn't win the SB until '01. In all big markets when the teams suck fans don't show up, NE had a toin of awful years in the 80s and 90s and that old Stadium was empty a lot but our Stadium was empty too when we sucked(though the seats were sold).
