If Cam didn't treat kids so well there would be ZERO reason to like him. It's a PR move. Makes him look great. Cam puts on a front. Let him lose, that smirk leave his face, and you'll see that he's just a baby back bitch.
this was unforgivable. even if he thought that 67 was going to get it you have to get your ass in there and get the ball. fight of flight and he flew like a canary. big party at chez whitey last night. everyone gets to come and tell us what a douchebag cam newton is and how his "antics" are unacceptable, and how his press conference was classless. enjoy it.
are you saying he should smile and be happy like he just won when he loses? thats just an ignorant statement.
Sorry dude, Cam Newton acts like a bitch no matter how the game goes. If he wins, he has Superman-level smugness. If he loses, he pouts like a 5 year old. If you don't see that, there's something wrong with you, not everyone else.
Tough game for Newton, tough press conference. He shouldn't be happy about how they played. Not everyone is super gracious in defeat, even Peyton threw his OL completely under the bus after that tough Steelers home loss many years ago. For Newton going forward, the question is if he can duplicate this season and play to this level year-in and year-out. Put up another great season, and nobody will remember this SB postgame press conference.
i agree. hes not the first guy to be useless in his post game press conference, i am sure i would be useless answering these blubbering idiots questions about how i feel losing the game.
It was a one possession game and the hyped 260 lb built like a LB QB wasn't willing to get into the scrum with a chance to win the SB. Carolina lost this game because of two QB fumbles deep in their own territory, and the player who fumbled them wasn't willing to try and recover it. It's incredible. Bizarre really. Perhaps we should start calling him Bizarro not Superman. Bizarro - 14 points for Denver. Superman - 10 points for Carolina.
I'm not saying that at all. While I wouldn't expect him to be smiling he should have at least manned up. He loves the game so much he should be able to handle every facet. He wants to dance all over the worst team in the league (Titans) and tell them if they don't like it, stop him. He comes out on the big stage and gets his ass handed to him. How many times did you seem Cam fired up on the sideline trying to rally his team? Adversity knocked on Cam's front door and he did absolutely nothing to show he is a leader. He pulled his best Brady impressions. I wouldn't expect him to be happy. But yet he is such a "leader, and team guy" he could have at least stood up for his team and teammates. Hell he was the MVP of the season and he was just completely mum. Acting like a little kid. Some leader he is. When he's winning he's running around like a Buffon drawing all the attention to him. When he's losing he's silent with his hoodie on trying to hide. Congratulations Cam, you played yourself.
I don't like the guy because of who he is....not what he is. but That said, wasn't it enough the Cam fanbois took it upon themselves to frame the pre-SB narrative by cynically assuming anyone not ballwashing at the ESPN "Cam is cool!" altar to be racist? What about those who don't like him simply because they see him as a preening pos? . And why was it that every squealing "Cam fan" got to go full-bore all week long slapping labels on people and draw conclusions about them let alone stirring the butthurt fanboi pot with "chez whitey" swipes, while others of a different opinion couldn't simply be taken at their word? . Sounds like you've been (figuratively-speaking) showing your own "true colors" while flipping a one-sided coin. . Cam Newton went from posturing big shot to glowering little cunt the moment he had to face the music (vs. Josh Norman/Luke Kuechly who manned up) and this clown's bullshit act has been so fucking obvious from day one - he's pure 24-carat phony. . I mean, the way he tried to talk himself off the ledge with his "I didn't mean to focus on race" backtrack?..... please... And I am enjoying it, just not on your "everyone's a racist hater!" terms
The worst part of his press conference antics -- we've seen it before and Rasheed Wallace did it better. He's not just a classless phony but he rips off other people's acts now.
@joe - you enjoyed it didnt you? my intent on this thread was to point out that people come from different backgrounds and what you find to be posturing and classless in other backgrounds is not viewed that way. and i think its proven out pretty well. i dont think everyone who doesnt like cam is bill romanowski, i dont think cam newton is perfect or love him as an athlete or man, but i do think that many people find how he acts to be classless, posturing etc.... because that is the way they were brought up. and that he probably was not brought up that way, and for you to want to make him do things the way YOU think he should is bullshit. he went in there he answered a question or two, gave them nothing and left abruptly, just like bill bellichick does every single week.
does anyone have a link to the press conference, i looked for a minute and could only find 30 second clips.
Just about the only way I can rationalize what he did there is this: It was third down and he was going to need a miracle play in that position no matter what. If he dove for the ball and recovered it, he'd have been immediately down by contact with zero chance to complete the miracle and facing fourth and forever. Split second decision, I think maybe he thought he had a better chance of picking up the ball and keeping the play alive on his feet in that situation than diving to the turf. It looks bad, him hopping away like that, but that's really the only way I can explain why he did what he did. I don't buy that the guy is afraid of contact. There are many negative things you can say about Cam, but I don't think he's truly afraid to get hit. But that looks just awful. He's going to be hearing about that for a long time.
Maybe. But he didn't try to get the ball and simply have it swiped away from him, he jumped back and kissed himself when the big bodies went to the ground for the ball.
Just all the people who threw money on the Panthers. But that's more like prison rape. Don't want it don't go to prison.
I think he was just so rattled by everything that happened in this game that he had a basic brain fart - he just froze without acting instinctively and diving for the ball like he normally would have done. Looks bad but so did everything else that happened on that play.
i cant come up with an excuse for that play. cant do it. although dierking that is possible and really the only thing i have heard that could maybe possibly be acceptable. even still it was a brutal play. there was a guy on boomer and cartin this morning i think who had put 5k on 0 and 2 praying to god they DIDNT get the 2 pt conversion... they did... he would have won about 180k.... how about THAT for a bad day.
I don't want to make him do things "my way." I only reserve the right to call him a preening bitch queen....that's not too much to ask : ) http://www.theonion.com/article/area-man-would-hate-cam-newton-even-if-he-was-diff-52304 Area Man Would Hate Cam Newton Even If He Was Different Minority SPORTS NEWS IN BRIEFFebruary 5, 2016 VOL 52 ISSUE 04 Sports·Race·Nfl Football MURRAY, KY—Adamantly stressing that his disdain for the 26-year-old quarterback is not based on any racial prejudice toward African Americans, local 49-year-old Michael Willet told reporters Friday that he would hate Cam Newton even if the Carolina Panthers star was a different minority. “I just can’t stand the obnoxious way he plays and how he showboats after every touchdown, and I’d feel that way regardless of whether he was black, Hispanic, or Middle Eastern,” said Willet, adding that Newton having the skin color of any other minority group wouldn’t lessen his intense dislike for the quarterback’s sideline antics and flashy, arrogant demeanor. “The fact that he’s black has nothing to do with it. If he was a Mexican guy dancing all over the field after first downs and posing for the camera, I’d hate him just as much.” Willet added that he would always root against Newton no matter which white quarterback is on the other team.
