It's pretty funny how so many have put themselves in the "Neutral/Realistic Fan" category. The debates/arguments get pretty heated for so many neutral thinkers. :grin: :jets:
I use to think I was a SOJ/Darksider until I joined this forum but compared to the other members I'm a realist borderline optimist even.
I see myself as one third Clint Eastwood in High Plains Drifter, one third Russell Crowe in Gladiator, and one third The Dude in The Big Lebowski. I know that makes no sense, but there you have it.
Wow, you say some pretty homerific things sometimes, but this take the cake. If I wasn't a dyed-in-the-wool liberal when it comes to censorship, I'd petition the moderators to ban you for this one.
I'm basically a realist who leans towards the darksider mentality. I once posted something on this board to describe it, I'll paraphrase it again: long-time Jets fans are like an abused dog. Before it gets scared, give it a kick. It'll still love you. Walk past it a few times without kicking it, all will be back to normal like nothing ever happened. Then kick it again. Repeat a few times, and after awhile, that dog cringes when you get near it even if you haven't kicked it recently. (No, I didn't experiment with this - it's simply logical, so save the PETA jokes). I'm the dog in this scenario, the Jets are my owner, and I still love them and try to be real despite not knowing when the kick is gonna come, but based on previous experience, I absolutely know it IS coming. So I guess darksider.

i am sure there are 30, there are what 2000 people active on this board. it just so happens that you dont usually see them posting in a ton of threads. its tough to post about neutrality. on the the guys further from neutral will post more often and debate more often so they will be the names you know and will sometimes make you think that the entire board is one way or the other. when in reality there are probably more people who read and dont post than post in every thread. scratch that there are 4580 registered users. im willing to bet 2k of them come here at least every now and again.
I think it's just because everybody thinks they are neutral and wants to be that way and thinks their views are realistic, even the "fire everybody" people. I picked the neutral option although I try to be optimistic because it's generally my outlook with everything in life. The choices were messed up, because being a general optimist isn't the same as being a homer. Optimists can still be rational and hope for the best. It's not like blindly supporting every single player coach and facet up the Jets organization... but everybody should still support the team. I don't like it when people attack and slander players on the team while they sit at home drinking beer on the sofa. They act like experts on how to run a football team when they've never been part of a football organization in their life, and act like the front office staff are all idiots.

Couldn't agree more. I wish there would have been a selection of (realist/but optimistic). That is how I would classify myself. I know the team sucked last year and needs a major overhaul, but I am hopeful for a better year next year.
