Imo Bradford could pull his ass out of the fire if he stays healthy and plays well. but it says here I understand the thinking behind the trade with the Rams, but don't think it will work out for Philly. Some of his roster moves are hard to figure. For me i guess the jury's out on him. I would not be surprised if he fails, though.
I think he's a smart guy and he's not afraid to make moves. Getting rid of McCoy was probably a good idea. He wanted huge money when his skill set is diminishing. Not many teams would have given him that contract. Also the guy is an imbecile. Chip took over the team after the Dream team fiasco. And took a 4-12 team to 10-6 and the playoffs (and they won their Division, too). And last year he was also 10-6 but didn't make the playoffs. I don't question signing Tim, because he either won't make the team or will end up a role player. Something Rex and Sparano failed at because they didn't know what the hell they were doing. And the player got blamed for it. I do question signing Mark Sanchez who as the starter was .500 (when Mark took over they were 6-2 so Mark was: 4-4).
I think the Rams made an excellent deal here. Bradford was a major disappointment for them and they got past it and acquired a potential franchise QB in the process. The deal may flop but they put themselves in the best position to succeed given Bradford's diminished trade value and the frustration that he represented for the franchise and it's fans.
Yes. I like Bradford, and hope for his sake he gets past his injuries. But given the risk he will not, I liked the Rams end of this trade alot more than Philly's. Seemed like a big gamble for Kelly.
Idk about Foles. He kinda sucked before Chip got there. Caught lightning in the bottle with Chip in 13 and then kinda came back to earth last year before getting hurt himself. I think Bradford is the way better QB. The Rams did need some stability though I'll give you that.
I am on the fence about Chip Kelly. As a lifelong Oregon fan, I appreciate what he did for the program, but he had a great situation and coaching staff. Mark Helfrich deserves a lot of credit for recruiting Marcus Mariota and a lot of the players while Kelly was in Eugene. He may not be the offensive guru that Kelly is but Helfrich is a much better recruiter and continuity guy. After the whole Jeremiah Masoli debacle, Chip grew uptight with problem players and this has shown at the Eagles. Don't get me wrong, he's still a great coach, but I don't worship the ground he walks on.
He's playing with "house $$". He knows if it blows up and he's fired, there will be a Major D1 job waiting for him the next day
Foles was there for 1 year before Kelly got there. As a 22 year old rookie he got thrown into the fire on a disintegrating Eagles team that was about to get longtime coach Andy Reid fired and had some rookie yips alongside a few good moments. What he did at 23 the next year with Kelly was kind of unprecedented. I'm not saying he's a lock to be really good but I think Kelly gave up on him way too soon. The NFL caught on to parts of Kelly's system last year and I think the Eagles were still somewhat behind in adjusting at the point that Foles got hurt. I think Kelly punted because he was about to have to give Foles a big deal and he just didn't know if that was a good move. Bradford is a much safer QB for him because if he breaks down next year then Kelly has some cover in the year he'll need to find a new QB.
There were two other significant factors, other htan his injury, that made 14 a down year for Foles compared to 13. The first was kind of hard to discern the effect of, but the Eagles OL was banged up early. The other was a clear problem - Philly let Foles best receiver, DeSean Jackson, go and his replacements could not fill Jackson's shoes. Says here most any NFL Qb who has a receiver of Jackson's quality, who had been the number 1 target, leave and is not replaced that the Qb will show some downgrade in production. Now why Philly let Jackson go is a subject I know Eagles fans engaged in real debate about. There were some justifications put out there, defending Kelly's decision and htat of their FO. But it was to my mind a move that no question hurt their O. then this off season they made some other controversial moves on their offensive roster, and to be sure there are Eagles fans who did not want to see Foles leave. But it may have been simply a strategic move by Kelly more based on his own status on the team than a pure comparison of Bradford and Foles. Let's just say the Rams with Jeff Fisher seem to be a franchise on the upswing, and that is the move they were happy to make. I've got no dog in this hunt, but it will be interesting to see whether Philly or St. Louis gets the better of the trade.
If Tim Tebow won the starting job and led the Eagles on a playoff run, it would be the ultimate troll job in NFL history.
I know there is a lot of irrational hatred for Tebow. And your scenario isn't going to happen. But if for some reason Tim did beat out Bradford and Mark and wins the job and takes Philly to the playoffs. Why a troll job. Sounds like a great comeback to me.
I never said I was against it. I have no stake in what happens with the Iggles. It was merely an observation.
If the guy wins the job good for him. If he doesn't make the team he goes back to TV work. There are many Tebow haters like Merrill Hoge. But there's many more Tebow fans.
I don't really understand what you're arguing. The points you make all make sense, and I don't disagree with them. But what is the position all this is supporting?
