I disagree. How do you get that he's WR 4? I think he will be either #2 or #3 at worst. I think he will be ahead of Hardman and everyone except maybe Lazard. In a year where we're looking to compete for the Lombardi Trophy, cutting or trading a WR who is a good scheme fit and good blocker and depending upon a rookie UDFA would be foolish. Injuries happen, and not just to Davis. We need depth, and our depth isn't all that even now.
As I wrote, I think it very much depends on what they see out of the UDFA wide receivers. I think the Jets carry 4 TEs, so if they carry a fullback (i.e., 5 RBs), then they likely carry only 5 WRs. If any of the UDFAs impress and the FO think that they won't clear waivers or be able to get them on the practice squad, then CD will be traded. They won't trade him if they don't have another viable option that they think they can develop (after all they are as you pointed out looking to compete for a championship). If they have a roster spot then keeping him on the roster would be the right move and could net them a potential 3rd compensatory pick next year when another team signs him. The question becomes do any of the UDFAs WRs impress enough to get CDs roster spot.
When I was in 5th or 6th grade (I think) the teacher gave us a class project for Valentine's Day.... we were supposed to illustrate a phrase using the word "Heart"... "Heartfelt", Heart to Heart" ... etc.... I drew a picture of Mola Ram holding a burning heart with "HEARTBURN" in flaming bloody letters below. Best drawing an 11 year old kid ever did, but I'm not sure if the teacher was impressed or terrified.
The lions released Denzel Mims. We're not even getting a late pick now. Sent from my IPhone 43 using Tapatalk V.86
Take this with a grain of salt but a poster on another Jets site said he has information that Davis will not play this season. He won't go into details other than it's NOT due to any legal issues. He also said the Jets should be putting out a statement today. I hope this guy is full of shit.
Hardmann is ahead of him because he plays the slot, Davis doesn’t. The 1 and 2 is Wilson and Lazard respectively. Davis would be the first to fill in for either if they needed a blow or got hurt. And if we went 4 wide he’d be the 4th receiver.
No. He just claims he won't play and it's not a suspension or a legal issue. I dont follow that forum like this one so I don't know much about the guy who posted it. He's not getting any pushback though and that site has way more traffic than this one. I'm still hoping the guy has bad info but in all honesty if it turns out to be true it wouldn't shock me.
Ugh that sucks... I hope he's alright and able to return soon. However, I still think it's a strong group even with his absence. Plus the tight end room is also deep. It's nice having depth
That sounds like a family/matrimonial issue that needs to be dealt with immediately. We have the horses to get along without Davis for a substantial period so let him handle his business.
depth at WR isn't strong. if wilson goes out were probably kinda fucked. no davis means it's wilson, lazard, hardman, cobb. not really a scary group. outside of them it's going to be a young guy like maybe brownlee as the final WR
