They don't need to sell a damned thing to the fans. If they feel compelled to do so they are by definition not that good

Too much. I might take their 2017 1st, 2017 2nd & 2018 1st for # 6 though. if for no other reason than that I think the Texans could significantly underachieve next year.

In this scenario, I'd take Fournette at 6. If the Jets don't want him, I'd try to trade back before I would pick someone else at 6.

I still go with Mahomes or Watson, whichever the Jets have rated higher, or Fournette.

I'm not a fan of holding off on positions that are deep in the draft because they're deep. To me, all it means when they say a position is deep in the draft is 15-20 teams are all going to take a dip into that well by the end of round 2, not that quality players will still be available in round 5.

I just saw Mike Mayok top 5 and he has Kizer #1. I was shaking my head how is this guy rising that fast and this late. I thought he was 3rd round at best but now some team will panic and draft him high. Draft season is strange times.

Real conflict of confidence there. He's our guy but let's draft another QB next year in the QB rich draft. There have been hundreds of QB that had all the tools Tim Couch, Todd Blackledge, Matt Leinart, RG III, Brady Quinn and they had better college careers than Hackenberg. Sorry but the Jets don't get that lucky, hasn't been since Joe Namath. He is terrible and the fans need to be in reality mode about that.

That's not a good trade at all. Houston will be good next year so basically you are trading the 6th overall and a fourth for a third and a late one this year and late one next year.

Talk about reaching for the stars. I would be shocked if he's the first qb taken.

Why take Fournette at #6 if we can get Mixon or Kamara in round 2.

Sure you might want to choose ADP over Jamal Charles in their prime but you would leave holes elsewhere if you ignore the relative value of getting the second guy a round later.

Personally I wouldn't take Mixon at all, but that has more to do with the Jets than Mixon.

That said, I get what you're saying but I often feel the real world result is that the guys who we can theoretically get later are gone sooner than people think. I've seen numerous sites making assumptions that you can landing a starting quality tight end in round 5 and I just don't agree. I think they are going to fly off the board in a manner surprising to a lot of people.

Round 1 the team should be able to take best pick available, regardless of position. Round 2, the team has to be a little more conscious of the fact that some of the greener pastures are going to dry up in a hurry. Round 3, you're back to best pick available again because as high as we are in the 3rd round, someone will slip through the cracks that is still a quality pick. By the comp 3rd and later, we're really looking for prospects that could be a good fit within the Jets system as well as special teams talent rather than high quality overall players.

That is THE nightmare scenario. Not only are 3 of the best players that the Jets could use gone, but there would probably be no one that another team would covet and want to trade up for.

That would leave the Jets with a choice of Fournette, Williams and Foster. In terms of sheer playing ability, I would lean towards Foster, but his termperament scares me a little. How Fournette's ankles checked out would be the determining factor for me. If he checked out ok, then I'd take him. If not, I'd go with Foster. I like Williams a lot, but I don't see him as being as good as either Fournette or Foster.

Allen? Seriously? Why in the heck would you take him? The Jets don't need another DL. IMO the only worse pick than Allen, would be Peppers.

If the draft were to fall that way, I don't think there would be any player that would be coveted enough for a team to trade up for them. I think there would probably be zero trade down opportunities. IMO McCaffrey would be awful at #6. I see only 3 picks that would be worse: Peppers, Allen and Lattimore.

With his hamstrings? No way, unless they think Foster's a mental case, don't like Williams, can't find a trade partner to trade down, and Fournette's ankles don't check out.

Allen shouldn't even be a consideration.

How can you even possibly begin to rationalize taking Allen? Who gives a shit if he's the BPA? The Jets have absolutely zero need for him, and he's been basically a 2-down player! IMO the only player who could possibly be worse than Allen would be Peppers and maybe Lattimore, although I'd rather take a chance on Lattimore's hamstrings since we have a big need at CB.

IMO the Texans would definitely have to sweeten their offer to get me to bite on that trade, unless there was no one I wanted at #6 and that was the only other option.

I disagree. If the Jets took Allen in the draft, the media and fans base would be in open revolt. I think fans would be selling their PSLs and turning down seasons tickets in droves. There would be billboards, flying plane banners, and possibly open protests and picketing at the stadium, and I wouldn't blame them. If the Jets take Allen, I'm done with this team until Woody sells the team.
