This might be bad for Tebow. Now Stephen A. is advocating for Tebow to start! For what it is worth, he had some tough words for Sparano, i.e., that Sparano is embarrasing himself.

I don't agree with the choice of words, but I think Sparano is being too conventional and too predictable with his use of Tebow.

I advocated starting Tebow in Game 1. You can tell by my join by date, and my prior posts defending Mark that I'm not a "Tebow fan". I am a Jets fan. At the start of the season I saw the following in Tebow:

    1. Tebow turns the ball over less than Sanchez does. Mark's Turnovers last year were unacceptable and they kill a good defense.

I've often said that if Mark could just protect the football he would be a much better QB. He still carries the ball too low when scrambling, and makes bad decisions on some throws.

    2. Tebow generates more offense than Sanchez does. Through Sanchez's games last season, and Tebow's first 16 starts, here is the comparison:

Mark Sanchez 2011 (all include rushing and passing):

    3577 Yards
    32 tds
    26 turnovers

Tim Tebow in his short career has started 16 games. Here are his stats:

    3757 yards
    26 tds
    16 turnovers

    3. Tebow run heavy read option offense would benefit Shonn Greene, who is a good rusher, but can not catch the ball well out of the backfield. It also fits the mold of what Rex Ryan is trying to do as far as Ground and Pound.

    4. Tebow is a better prospect at this point than Sanchez. If Tebow can raise his completion percentage to around 55% by improving his ability on mid-ranged routes he would be a real weapon at the position. Mike Vick had a similar low completion percentage when he came into the league.

Tebow has started only 16 games, Mark has started 58.

Mark's career completion percentage is 54.6. He's had 73 tds to 77 turnovers. Isn't it long past time we realized he's a liability and moved on?

    5. I thought at the start of the year that our defense would be awesome, and it might be the last year before we needed to consider rebuilding. I didn't think the Jets should waste another great defensive year on Sanchez and his turnovers. This point has fallen down a bit on my list, due to the injury to Revis but it still seems like we could have went a lot further in the past few years if we had average to above average QB play, or at the very least a game manager that protected the football. People will point to Sanchez's adequate play during the playoffs, which is a fair point. What they fail to consider is Sanchez's poor overall play in the regular season led to us not getting home field or a bye in the past few years.

At this point, I'm not sure it matters. I think our window to win a title was 2008, 2009 and maybe 2010. If we had better QB play, we might have made it. At this point our LBs are old and slow, key points of the OL are gone, and we've lost the good WRs and RBs we had. I think the rebuilding year may be this year, we will see how the soft part of the schedule goes.

    6. Tebow has a better contract. Mark has taken up an exceptional amount of cap space for a player that under performs. If a move to Tebow were made permanent we'd have a more friendly QB contract on the books.

    7. Some members of the team resent how much Sanchez has been babied. Lets make him earn his job like everyone else. In case anyone forgot:

Overall, I hope we can find something at QB. I don't care if it's a matter of Sanchez taking the next step, Tebow starting and improving, or us having to get a vet, or just starting over with a new QB. I think the situation needs to be resolved, but it will be difficult with all of the holes that have popped up this season.
