Does it matter who we have if Geno is still the QB? How can anyone gauge an OC with Geno Smith running the offense? This offense is fucked until we get a QB. Until then, it doesn't matter who our OC is.
I'm saying that I'm not going to blame MM because Geno overthrew a wide open receiver. You can blame that on playcalling, I'm going to blame that on personnel.
Nothing frustrated me more than when we would get a drive going and he killed momentum by calling a wildcat play that usually got stuffed at the line of scrimmage. I wont miss him at all
Ivory had (1) 20 carry game, only (4) games with over 15 carries (knowing what we know about Ivory he should have had many more 20+ carry games). Saying anything along the lines of "ground n pound" is a flat out lie. Geno had (2) 40 Attempt games, (9) games where he threw over 25x. (knowing what we know about Geno, at most, 25 throws/a game). MM was a terrible game manager. At times he was able to orchestrate the offense up and down the field, but his play calling in the red zone was a down right failure. How Powell disappeared from the offense is a sin. The Green Bay loss is 100% on MM (just a laundry list of mistakes made by MM in that game and most notably the TO gaf). Blew the 2nd New England game too, throwing Geno out of shotgun with no quick option in the flat. Overall just terrible at managing talent and crucial game time decisions. Looking forward to a new OC in the off season (work on the new offense: slot receiver inside a tackle).
I saw a man with terrible red-zone play calling. I also saw a man that knows damn well he ran the ball more than he wanted to..
It isn't really about too much or too little running. It is about ALWAYS running on 2nd and 9,10 or 11. I wanted to tear my hair out. So predictable. A guy like Geno needs a safe first down pass 50% of the time. Marty did not give him that. Then he gave him the hopeless 2nd and long dive, and Geno's goose was cooked. This is not to say that Geno is any good, just that he needed all the help he could get
I agree with this, but I also just felt we didn't run the ball enough. But, I agree with the crux of your post.
Everything my Eagle buddies told me about MM came true. Including how it was gonna end with us saying he was pass happy to a fault. It could have turned out different IF Vick had been the winner of the Qb "competition". Unfortunately, we don't live in that universe so what happened? happened..
Hard to say with such bad QB's. He did not work well with Rex's philosophies at all. Bad play caller. Put too much on Geno's plate and he CLEARLY couldn't handle it all. I wouldn't say he is a bad OC. He would work well with a good quarterback. Just did not fit with Rex or Geno and refused to adapt to either. His biggest flaw.
I thought they really misused Ivory this year. Maybe he was getting dinged and we did not know it. But they just forgot about him at times, it seemed.
Good gameplan, poor execution. If Marty was such a great football mind, why didn't he accompany Andy Reid to KC? He failed to develop Geno, which was one of his primary responsibilities. I want a young offensive mind to come in and implement some new, exciting concepts. I want to get away from the Walsh/Holmgren/Sherman West Coast offense and try something new.
I've said it once before MM without a real QB is just another asshole with a playbook and a headset on.He is a better match for a Veteran QB a guy like Rivers or A Smith ,there's nothing he can do to fix Geno Smith.... there's nothing to fix anyway Geno just is what he is .....not a franchise QB
If I see one more handoff out of shotgun I am going to lose it. We need to get 8 yards to get 4 yards - I can't stand morningweg.... cant stand him. \
