What exactly is wrong with calling an awful player awful? Especially at a position we need help at. Especially when its a player who dropped I think 5 passes week 2.
He's a 4th string wide receiver/KR who touches the ball 3-5 times a game if he's lucky. He also is a young player w/ potential. if he's so bad why not let him dig his own grave? Sorry. I just don't see how fixating on a player's faults is in anyway conducive to supporting a team. Sure it's your right as a fan but if you don't think it has any affect on the product you are rooting for...you're mistaken. And then next week after he has an irrelevant low profile performance you guys will move on to some other back-up player who didn't play exactly how you envisioned. Again..that's your right. To each his own. I just think the whole thing is very self defeating. You support your team & hope things get better. Not hate on any little weakness you can find. Mistakes happen. It's football.
If Sanchez were still the QB then all of Gate's drops would show up on the "Sanchez Sucks" thread as examples of poorly thrown balls :rofl::rofl:
Hes 27. Not that young to have accomplished nothing. He has 0 potential. He has already dug his own grave. He got cut by Miami and has been awful since he's been here. I dont see how being super positive happy go lucky is conducive to helping our team win either. This is a forum not a pep rally. Do I root for Gates on game day of course but like a lot of other people here we think we have internal options better like Spadola.
Gates had NO DROPS vs the Bills............. ...........since Geno made it his mission to avoid throwing anywhere near him.
I still support Gates. I think he's a decent receiver. But these last 2 weeks were brutal. Hopefully he can redeem himself in the upcoming weeks
Come on, do you guys even watch the games? Blocking on kick returns was absolute garbage. I'd swear half the guys reach the returner untouched.
You mean we can't complain about players of our football team? We might as well be nuns watching football.
In NY you are fixate on the negative. That is hey 90% of the fan base agreed with analysts calling us the worst team in the NFL.
No one is rooting against players on there own team here. We're just pointing out that Gates is a waste of a roster spot. A roster spot that would serve the team better fill by someone with more ability/potential. If you think that anything that is said here on a message board has any impact on our team then you are delusional (A delusion is a belief held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary.)
who's rooting against him? I support anyone in the green laundry with a few acquisition exceptions. He did nothing last year and has done squahdoosh in 3 games this year in whatever activity he's participated in. I'm as pessimistic as the next Jet fan with sprinkles of realism and optimism here and there. But gates might be fast, but fast don't catch passes. (shit i don't see much separation from him either). So if all we can judge on game 3 is KR's. He sucks at it, whether the blockers are there or not.
If people think he stinks that's fine. This really has nothing to do w/ gates playing ability or lack thereof. But do we really need a whole thread dedicated to it? It goes beyond wanting the team to improve & seeing specific players as a weakness. It's fixating on negativity. And then when Gates is quiet this coming week, this crowd will start a new thread about some other player sucking. It's purely scapegoating. As if you you guys constantly need someone to blame. that's why it's tiresome. It's just a vicious circle of hate.
He really is a dolphin reject that cannot catch a ball with his hands. I say just resign Mcknight if he is no suspended for KR bunch or sign someone better. There is a bunch of guys out there. Jahvid Best- Really fast and can fill in if goodson does not return Brandon Lloyd- Lost a few steps but good locker room guy Laurent Robinson Fast but cannot catch Devery Henderson- Would be better than gates Braylon Edwards- Fan favorite David Nelson- Better than gates Austin Collie - ^^^^^^^^^^ Mohamed Massaquoi - Was on our T.C. roster Donte’ Stallworth Steve Breaston Josh Cribbs (KR/PR) Help us on STs Michael Jenkins Better than gates Deion Branch^^^^^^^^^^^ Early Doucet- My fav and best WR FA! Ramses Barden Slow Mike Thomas Can catch Derek Hagan OK . Better than gates Roscoe Parrish (PR) Brandon Banks (KR/PR) Patrick Crayton Better then gates Sammie Stroughter ^^^^^^^^^ Jordan Shipley Lost his speed due to injury. Brian Robiskie Give him a shot? Patrick Turner- Been there Greg Camarillo (PR)- Should take a look Legedu Naanee Nah! Mardy Gilyard (KR)- Been there Adrian Arrington Michael Clayton- OLD Terrence Austin??? Richard Goodman (KR) Never herd of him??? Terrance Copper -NO Brett Swain ???? Jerheme Urban -Like Quan Cosby (PR/KR)Like
I think Gates is good for what he is. He's a 4th/5th receiver. He was put in a position that he wasn't suited for in week 2. He's a guy that can catch 2 or 3 passes per game and stretch the field occasionally. I think he'll be fine, but these past 2 weeks just weren't good but I'm sure he'll redeem himself this season. IMO he's better than what he showed in week 2.
The position he wasn't suited for week 2 was catching a football? He's a wide receiver. The ball was bouncing off his hands and body the whole game. I'd rather see Spadola than Gates who is older and useless. He was fumbling kick returns and the ones he didnt fumble he decided to run out and get tackled at the 15.
Of course he's supposed to catch the football. But he's a role player. He's not a star. So if you put a role player in a position where he isn't suited to be a go too guy he fails. But give him a few throws and thats when he's effective.
