Tebow cost very little more than the pile of shit they cut to make room for him and if you really think Tebow won't do more for the Jets than Stanton then you are kidding yourself.

I should remember where I posted so I could just cut and paste this into every one of these kinds of threads when people complain about the inability of the FO to fill all of our needs heading into the draft:

"please identify the Free Agents that were (i) not franchise tagged; (ii) not huge injury risks; (iii) within the Jets price range, and (iv) likely to make an appreciable difference to the team, that you feel the Jets should have signed.

    I'll wait."

It's not about if Tebow may do more than Drew fucking Stanton ever will.

You need to find at least a rotational resource with 4th round pick, and Jets need plenty of such bodies all over the roster. Are you telling me Jets are going to ROTATE Sanchez and Tebow? That is preposterous as well.

What I don't like about the Tebow move is that, it has very low ceiling (if Tebow had a semblance of a capable QB, Denver wouldn't have jumped on Peyton in the first place anyway) and what you lose out may have higher potential than whatever role Tebow might play.

the FA pool is pretty dry right now, were not going to make any moves untill after the draft. if were looking at Jim and Bray it will be after the draft we dont even know if there healthy enough to be on the field.

you are correct, but lets face it the nfl is in the entertainment business , not just the jets. every team is a business, every player is an employee. Lets not be blind to the fact each and every team wants to make money and the way to do that is win it all or be relevant . Only one team each year wins it all but you can be relevant every year. being in the spotlight makes you more appealing than one championship. If the bengals win it all next year then go back to being crap the next, everyone will forget the one year they won. If you are in the mix every year and bring the spotlight it brings more money.

I was actually thinking about the dollars and not the pick we had to give up..you're right, I wish we still had that pick but then I would also have to hope Tannenbaum used it wisely. He usually does ok with 4th rounders though.

I agree with the sentiment that the Jets, from the owner down to every front office employee through the coaching staff are all about trying to stay relevant by grabbing headlines. Headlines that they thought would just automatically include being the 2011 Super Bowl champions. On the way to that goal, the absolute worst things that could happen to the team happened. They imploded, lost a lot of winnable games, and did not make the playoffs while watching the other local team basically stampede them on the way to winning the Super Bowl.
Now, the only positive to come from that in my opinion is that I am starting to see the Jets organization for what they truly are, they are, in my opinion, a bunch of fake wannabes, including the owner. They might as well forgo Hardknocks and campaign for Jersey Shore instead. For me, I will continue to measure the Jets against the Ravens because they were the ones who were foolish enough to let Rex Ryan slip away after having him on their staff for so many years (I am being sarcastic here, and yes, I am prepared to hear more about the Jets back to back AFC title games under Rex Ryan).
We all know the Giants are, and have been a better organization for many years. The clock is ticking on the Jets sideshow. These things grow old very fast.

As the old saying goes, a fish rots from the head.

Meaning it all starts with Woody, and not in a good way. Just because he inherited a bunch of money and was able to buy the team does not make him an effective owner. His fingerprints are all over so many bad moves lately. I don't want to hear about the success of recent years, becuase it wasn't enough, wasn't sustained, too many good chances they ended up shooting themselves in the foot, and now it is clear the team is heading in the wrong direction.

    Growing old indeed.

Exactly! Furthermore, most of the people saying we gave up meaningless 4th rounder would be pissed if we drafted someone that they didnt like with that same pick. There were people complaining about taking Mark's boy in the 7th round. Now all of a sudden 4th round picks don't mean anything?

You may have noticed that the Tebow trade tends to appeal to the fans of logical inconsistency.

While it's true that the Jets appear to be trying to grab headlines, most people still don't understand the real underlying reason for this.

The answer is simple: ticket sales. Most Season Ticket Holders have been close to the pulse on this, as the Jets have struggled since the stadium opened. And now, with the 8-8 season under our belts and the locker room fiasco that ensued, they're even more desperate to fill the seats.

The Upper Deck has become a vast wasteland of transients and defectors and even the PSL Sections have suffered hits with defaults. PSLs are selling for under face and UD tickets are virtually worthless unless located in very low rows. And unlike the Giants, who have an online mechanism for ticketholders to buy and sell (PSL resales), the Jets are too embarrassed to set up such a marketplace for fear it will be totally disrupt their ability to try to shill the tens of thousands of seats they still have to move.

So yes, the Tebow thing is headline-grabbing, but the underlying reason is the deplorable ticket sales. This isn't about winning football games anymore. We're beyond that now. Woody needs to fill up some seats, so expect this cockamamie trend to continue.

I hear Ty Law is available.

I think most Jets fans are so disgusted right now, they accept the Tebow thing because it's some measure of hope.

I know for me, I'm like, "Well, screw it, it can't get much worse than 8-8, so bring on Tim Tebow and maybe we can light up the field once in awhile instead of watching those annoying 3-and-outs."

Here's the thing I'm hoping for with Tebow. You know this guy HAS TO KNOW the knock on him is he isn't a good, true, "pocket passer." Now what if he takes that very personally and is working his ass off right now to improve his accuracy? And what if he comes into TC and the early Preseason Games and looks a hell of a lot more like he CAN be a passer in this league. Then what?

This is the hope that the Tebow supporters are hanging on. What if his arm gets as good as his scrambling/running abilities? Sanchez is toast at that point if this kid can win games for us. So this is what we're all hanging on... one more season of "Well... what if..."

Where did you pull that from? He makes 2.5 million next year...however, there is a clause where his salary goes up dramatically but only if he is on the field for 45% of the snaps..wanna bet he isn't?
