9-7 barring any significant injuries. 10-6 if everything falls into place. The main thing that I anticipate is growth as a team. I’m pumped, and ready.
regardless of how well darnold and the jets offense performs, it won't match the chiefs of last year and certainly not this year. mahomes is the second coming and he will have that offense humming, even without hunt. have posted it before and it is worth repeating - mahomes is this generations marino and manning (peyton). IMO he will break many of their records.
Put your money where your mouth is boys - As the trend says - when a new Jets coach takes over we will have another winning season. Jets 10 - 6. Wk 1: vs Bills 24 - 17 Win. Wk 2: vs Browns 20 - 10 Win. Wk 3: vs Patriots 27 - 7 Loss. Wk 4: BYE Wk 5: vs Eagles 28 - 24 Win. (First ever regular season win against the Eagles!) Wk 6: vs Cowboys 24 - 3 Loss. (Elliot is back and we have an emotional decline) Wk 7: vs Patriots 27 - 23 Loss. (An Improvement on Wk 3 but still not there) Wk 8: vs Jaguars 31 - 26 Win. Wk 9: vs Dolphins 27 - 6 Win. Wk 10: vs Giants 23 - 20 Loss. (An expected win that we lose when too emotional) Wk 11: vs Redskins 34 - 17 Win. Wk 12: vs Raiders 24 - 13 Win. Wk 13: vs Bengals 31 - 28 Win. Wk 14: vs Dolphins 21 - 20 Loss. (Another heartbreaking loss that is typical) Wk 15: vs Ravens 27 - 17 Loss. (It will be too hard to contain Jackson) Wk 16: vs Steelers 12 - 9 Win. (Nice old school ground-n-pound win) Wk 17: vs Bills 30 - 10 Win. (We make the post season unlike our pathetic 2015 exit)
Everything changes so much week to week in the NFL, so it makes it hard for me to predict an exact schedule. Who knows how the Ravens or Jets will look when they meet in December? I like the (10-6) though. I think the Jets can find a way to get there. Yep, this is exactly how I feel.
Gase and Bell will clash, WR and OL are far from being world beaters and defense is not good enough to dominate and win many games when offense is not clicking and fails to keep opposing offense off the field. Darnold should pull out a few games against the lesser opponents, as NYJ end up with 6-10 season mark and miss playoffs for 9th consecutive season; something which is not easy to do considering all the mediocre teams which make the playoffs year after year. As for the previous six first year NYJ head coaches having winning records, so what? That is just a statistical anomaly which has no correlation to anything, considering the team has sucked ass 80% of the time for the past fifty years.
That would be unfortunate. That is one thing we have talked about before on the board: the potential for Gase/Williams to blow up on each other and the team implode from within. Gase and Bell seem to have a good relationship and if they don't, I don't think it would be a huge problem. However, if the offense blows games or the defense blows games, I could see Gase/Williams developing issues with each other. Hopefully none of that happens and everyone works together as a team. A team ready to Take Flight!
6 wins. Maybe 8 if everything broke great (and Gase turns out to be a lot better than I give him credit for). I think our defense will be average, our offense will be below average and our special teams will be awful.
I expect to still be in contention week 14 - and by expect I mean "hope". We have some clear strengths, some clear weaknesses, and mostly a lot of unanswered questions. With several new players and new coaches there are too many questions about this team to expect anything. Preseason means next to nothing. But man I really need a competitive season. This has become one of the longest competitive droughts in our history and I need something to be excited about in December. I miss having hope for the Jets as part of my Christmas cheer.
Hopefully we face Rosen.. Fitz occasionally has those big upside games, and you know he'd love to have one against us. Rosen would be a sitting duck.
Too many holes on defense to have serious big-time expectations. I'm looking for Darnold and the offense to progress. Hopefully we revamp the def next year maybe get a true playmaker WR and away we go.
6-10 at best. That opening stretch is brutal and we could easily go into the second half of the season at 1-7 or 2-6.
Yeah, but if they win some of those games, you will be thinking much differently. I think they will. It's an interesting strategy. No left tackle to protect Rosen, so he will be destroyed whenever he plays. Then when they draft a QB, there will be no one to protect him. They have a lot of picks, but even more holes to fill.
