I don't doubt it. Was in Puerto Rico not long ago and had me a nice Cuban sangwich, should have known better than to try one up here.
I had the famous Halal Guys, lamb and chicken platter with pita and white sauce/hot sauce courtesy of 53rd and 6th
Wow, holy shit. Next time I'm in the city that's the one. Edit: That's a food truck? Are they always there? _
Food trucks are the new black. Every Friday on O'ahu there's a food truck event with over 50 vendors. Every week is a new theme e.g. Garlic, pork, sriracha etc. and each vendor creates a dish with said theme incorporated in it. During the weekdays most of them cruise around the busy parts of town and setup shop for lunch. Most reveal their location/menu via social media.
Always there...Its the food cart...Just make sure you go to the cart that says HALAL GUYS, not the other ones on 6th avenue...There is one every block there. The 53rd street on 6th ave in front of the Hilton hotel has a line like no other and is a super trendy spot. Its awesome, just be careful of the hot sauce...It is very hot, the white sauce is excellent. That is what they are known for.
Similar, its white sauce but its like crack. Most people agree its like crack. You want it so bad a week later again
Out and about, running around, getting things done and went by a new Popeye's that just opened. Got a chicken tenders po' boy and remembered they had great onion rings. They don't have onion rings at the new store! Bastards! The sandwich was okay; okay food is everywhere. Why go to Popeye's if they don't have onion rings?
The thing to keep in mind with those Halal food truck platters is that they're ridiculously fattening. An entire day's worth of calories in one lunch. Really tasty though.
