Lost in all this is the fact she deserved it. She was trying to kill him and just took a swing at his face. She missed. Ray didn't.

I'm really confused as to what huge percentage of the country feels as though it's okay to beat your four year old (I think he was four) sons legs and ass to a bloody pulp? You might be right twenty years ago, but it was a lot more acceptable to beat your wife thirty years ago, so that justifies what Ray Rice did, right?

If images live forever, these images SHOULD live forever. I'm sorry, but child abuse isn't acceptable anymore. There's a difference between spanking and disciplining versus beating your children as a way to relieve your aggression and conveying it as discipline.

Note that the pictures that were released revealed over inch long wounds, and the photos were taken FOUR DAYS after it occurred.

He was much more protected by the league because he's one of the faces of it.

Good thinking OP. Personally I'd rather have an upgrade at TE. What about Aaron Hernandez?

With all the notable players that get away with heinous crimes in this league, including murder, it amazes me how open that moron was with his murders. Not to mention the fact that his murders were that of a straight thug. Nothing more than pumping his chest and doing it for the thrill.

did I say huge or big enough? most of the south grew up with that. do you think a.p. thought of it himself or was he disciplining the kid they he was? does it make it right? no
but its an easier offense to forgive. ray rice wasn't a nobody before his incident and if he was coming off a good season some team may have held their nose and signed him(see hardy, greg). soi don't think its star treatment as much as it production potential vs the media backlash.

I see your point and I certainly respect it. But it's tough to explain the fact that the AP images weren't plastered all over our TV screens for three weeks like the Ray Rice video was.

Your right though. No NFL team wants to be associated with the talks of the video by signing him. It's messed up because I'm sure he could still be a productive NFL player and what he did is a lot more forgivable than what a lot of players who got second chances have done.

Two years out of the game is too much anyway. He's done. Fair or not fair it's over

He was technically never suspended. Would he be eligible if we broke him out?

Fuck Ray Rice. I don't want that POS on this team.

Powell is a good enough pass catching back if he can get healthy.

Yeah, actually he has been pretty decent. The only game he didn't play that well was against the Eagles and the O line didn't open up anything. He was getting mauled behind the line.

Give him more opportunities in the passing game and he'll do some work.

    The point being?...

Aaron Hernandez has just a good of chance as Ray Rice does of getting back to the NFL, ZERO. Rice beating a women (Greg Hardy/Junior Gallette this last year) isn't the primary reason. The reason is that he is a forgotten man and his talent left a long time ago.

Exactly. Ivory is a very good RB, but he MUST be used in a limited capacity. There's no shame in that. His running style virtually assured that even if he wasn't prone to minor injuries. So the question then becomes who is the man to spell Ivory? I thought for sure BPowell was more than capable of taking the load, but he hasn't been able to do it.

So who else is out there? I'm sure there are other RBs who are either just a little over-the-hill or have hit the crest of the hill and entered their waning years, but who? I just don't pay close enough attention any longer to anyone besides the Jets to know who is out there.

Okay, it has been a long time since I saw the tape of that incident, but I don't recall anything even remotely like that. Also, even if she did take a whack at him that does t constitute an attempt to murder (or kill if you prefer) any more than him punching her was an attempt to murder. Sadly, I actually know someone who got into a drunk fight, punched a guy and killed him. He didn't go to jail for murder; it was ruled some degree of manslaughter if memory serves.

As for what I remember seeing, it was pure brutish behavior. Perhaps I didn't get to see the whole clip or something and I'm willing to be corrected, but I just don't remember it that way at all.

Eeeek, that's thinner than I realized. How long is Moreno out for? I could see him being a useful addition IF he were healthy and we needed a vet to get us into the playoffs.

As an aside, why not bring Greene back for a few games? I know he isn't a long term answer, but he was always a decent runner and we REALLY need to spell Ivory. The way I look at it is this: I'd rather have Ivory at, say, 20 good runs a game than make him do 30 or more and watch him go down with an injury or wear down. If he gets injured you get him for zero runs a game, right? So even if the alternate runner is mediocre, it would still be better if it keeps
Ivory on the field thru the season. That's my hope.

OTOH, I know any player can can hurt on any play. I do tend to think the chances of Ivory getting hurt become much higher as he gets tired and this is key.

Somebody is going to have to explain to me how denying Ray Rice a job is making his situation any better. His wife didn't file charges and is trying to work with him to save their marriage. The crime is bad enough but the stigma attached to him is ruining any chance of hapiness. How is this blacklisting him going to benefit his family?

Moreno had a set back is likely out for all of this year. Greene doesn't do anything that Stacy, Powell, and Ridley can't do, he actually does less. If we don't want to give young guys like Pead or Cadet a look, Pierre Thomas would be worthy of one, he's a dinosaur but a lot of teams have expressed interest and he can catch the ball out of the backfield. It doesn't seem like we are going to do anything though. Hopefully Ridley steps up.

That's not the reason he hasn't been signed. Teams had no problems looking into Greg Hardy and Junior Gallette but yet people think Ray Rice who actually married the girl he hit is only out of the league because of that. Sure, there wasn't a video with Hardy but the fact he got signed was because he can still play. Ray Rice had his worst year ever in 2013, he ran for a massive 600 yards and 3 yards a carry. The situation may have been the reason he was removed from the league but his current talent is keeping him out.
