Seems like a lot of Jets fans don't like Joe but I love him. He can be a bit much but he's just saying how he feels and he's been suffering longer than most. Carton was great I miss him. He'll def be back on the radio somewhere when he gets out
The tone for a game and even a season can be set in the very early stages. Andy Reid made the same stupid mistake in the AFC Championship game and it cost his team home field advantage and a trip to the Super Bowl. The Jets still haven't recovered and possibly won't this season from choking away that 16-0 lead to Buffalo in week 1.
I honestly don't understand how blowing a 16-0 lead in week 1 has any effect on the remaining games in the season. Each game is an independent event. In gambling they call it the Monte Carlo fallacy which is a fallacy of the immaturity of chances. Sure, it would have been nice to get the win and improve the record. But that result is NOT the reason for 1-5. If the Jets win the Buffalo game do they instantly become a much better team 6 weeks into the future vs New England?
I hope so, but will miss him and Boomer together. I can't see them ever reuniting. They were the best thing on wfan. I live in Florida and still listen every AM online...
Joe does have a point though that every game now there are only away fans remaining in the stadium chanting for their team. How can the Johnsons be okay with this embarrassment?
I will be the 1st to admit that I was drinking the Jets Kool-Aid after the Cowboy game. Logically speaking you have to be illogical to be a Jet fan because nobody in their right mind would think this team has a prayer. Having said that, I think it is important to not go to the other extreme and try to consider what happened. What if the Patriots go 19-0 this season and their defense ends up averaging fewer points per game during the regular season than the 1985 Bears? Now all of a sudden this loss to the dreaded Patriots doesn't seem so bad when you consider the situation. I also disagree with Beningo and Booger McFarland who argued that Sam should have been removed. By removing him you may actually kill his confidence even further. By leaving him in, you're telling him no matter what you are our QB. Also whether it be this game or the next, Sam and Gase are going to have to figure out how to deal with the Blitz. You know the NFL is a copy cat league and they are going to make Sam prove he can deal with the blitz. I will not bring up the offensive line again, but this is something that can be addressed in the offseason. Even though I am disappointed with Gase's preparation of the team for this game, I still think it is too premature to fire him. I wanted the Jets to hire Greg Williams in the offseason, but at least they hired him as a DC. Gase like Sam is still learning on the job. When they start breaking down the film and they notice how many times you had offensive lineman blocking air, it will become apparent the blocking scheme needs some serious work. Also, I was amazed at how receivers continued on their long routes when the ball had to be thrown quickly. With this being a short week, I can't see the Jets making a whole lot of progress on all their issues. So there might be some more growing pains for Darnold here. But the schedule does get easier and hopefully, the Jets will start becoming more competitive. Otherwise like you, I am going to need a stiff drink!
Funny thing is Joe picked the Jets to win and even bet money on the game lol and went to it in person.
Carton is streaming live from cell block 6...He is probably gambling away his dinner every night..Teaching people how to run ponzi schemes..
But can you justify his hiring? What has he accomplished in the NFL that endorses his hiring in the first place?
Nothing Mike Mcarthy should have gotten the job but Manish Metha wrote one of his famous articles that the inept Johnson brothers actually read and listen to.
Wow, I will do my best here since I wanted Greg Williams instead. I think the #1 reason he was hired was due to his success against the Pats when he coached the Dolphins. Besides the Jets having been run by defensive-minded coaches were looking for an offensive mind. Keep in mind also there was a huge run on offensive coordinators during the offseason. So he was probably the best offensive-minded coach available at the time. I think the Jets have been so desperate to get an offensive mind in their staff that they went after him. I would have preferred to see Greg Williams as the HC and Gase as the OC, but it probably wasn't possible. Having said that, he has only had two games to work with Darnold. I do think they need some time together and there will be growing pains as a result. I just want to see the progress that leads to a better team in the future. So in all fairness, I think he does deserve some more time. But I will be the first to admit the patriots game was very bad.
If you can't justify hiring him you can't justify keeping him. He was 2-4 against the Patriots as Miami head coach. There is nothing positive about that; that is nothing to aspire to. "Offensive minded" is a philosophy, not an accomplishment. Don't feel bad, though, Pats fan; no one here, even the most ardent supporters of Gase, have been able to satisfactorily answer the question. That's probably because there is no satisfactory explanation. Where is the reporter who will ask that of the Johnsons?
I am not a 100% Gase guy and like I said I preferred Williams. But 2-4 means he did have some success. We are talking about the Patriots the best team in the NFL in all this time. Keep in mind Tod Bowles was 1-7 and the victory he got in 2015 was at the end of the season when the Pats were not playing all their starters.
