The Jets likely would not have made much noise in the playoffs this year, but they would have had a decent shot to beat Houston.

Yeah, the Saints were on a mission and could not be beat. Is that why they barely survived the Minnesota game?

with a rookie qb they were not beating the saints in 2009, i just could not see it happening. it would've been a closer game the 2nd time around don't get me wrong but i highly doubt it happens.

aside from trading for cutler that offseason there was no decent qb available on the market going into 09 though. vick maybe but i doubt he would've played at the level he played at in 2010 a few months outta jail.

It's irresponsible to say definitively we could not win with a rookie QB, in fact we had a pretty elite running game We probably would have thrown the ball 20 times and a rookie QB would have been able to handle that load.

Right now the Jets don't have the right talent base to be in the Super Bowl mix. They had this last year because the offense was fairly solid and capable of dictating on the ground from time to time. The defense was still good enough to shut down a great QB and beat a team like New England that was overly dependent on their QB to win.

At this point the offense is just a mess from the line out and the defense can no longer make a great QB look average.
