The Having to be OK with Auburn isnt necessarily true. Auburn isnt assured a spot in the SEC title game even if they win out. If the title game is between UF and Arkansas, both would be top 10 teams at the time. Whoever wins would be more likely to go to the championship game.

Im sorry but WVU schedule is just flat out bad. Louisville at least has decent enough teams. As you said they arent great now, but theyre much better than the teams WVU is playing. You must be kidding even mentioning Western Carolina, of course theyre gonna schedule easy outta conference teams, hell auburn played Buffalo. The point is that if they scheduled more difficult out of conference games how would they have any shot in hell of going undefeated, their chances are so slim as it is. I mean Florida plays Florida State every year, theyre terrible this year but its not like theyre all cupcakes.

Look I respect what West Virginia is doing, but I knew going into the season that they had a very good chance of going undefeated, and I didnt think they deserved it then either. Im sorry but if every team were to play the schedule that WVU is playing then there would be a lot more undefeated teams everyyear.

The only message it would send is that if you are in a conference that is known to be weaker you need to make sure you stack your out of conference schedule. Im sure the Big East school that is undefeated will play in the game, other than Rutgers, I just dont agree with it. As far as that goes, why is WVU getting so much respect while Rutgers hangs around the mid teens in the rankings? Just seems WVU gets plenty of respect as far as the public perception goes.

And as for being ignorant as MikeSLTJ called me, I am far from it. Dont immediately start with the namecalling. While I disagree with Cakes I am having a good discussion with him. If you want to participate then grow up and learn to have a normal conversation.

This is a major problem there are so many doomsday scenarios.... here is a new one

Arkansas runs the table in the reg season meaning they beat LSU and Tennessee. They then win the SEC title game by beating Florida. Lets say for the sake of arguement Michigan, WVU, Louisville, Rutgers, Texas and Notre Dame lose. With those 3 wins over Tennessee , LSU and Florida I would assume they'd catapult into the top 2. Now USC runs the table by beating Cal and ND but Arkansas by virtue of a win over Florida in the SEC title game beats out SC in the BCS rankings. Arkansas would play Ohio St in the title game ahead of USC who went into Fayetville week 1 and blew out the Razorbacks. I hate this stupid BCS.......

They have played NOBODY! The only raned teams they play are undefeated b/c they have beaten nobody. A bunch of the 1 loss teams are mroe qualified to make the sham title game than WVU.

No WAY! The Big 10 also stinks and OSU and Mich have only played 1 good team each. this is the major reason CFB sucks, these big teams rarely have a tough game. They have 1 maybe 2 tops a year.

    WOW! I can't believe I just read that:rofl:

Also a nay, they would have only beaten WVU and Rutgers and again neither of thsoe teams has ahd an imrpessive victory all year. I give Ul credit for trying w/ scheduling UM but the facts are UM stinks this year.

You always mention MD, they had 1-2 nice seasons but they haven't been consistent winners so to assume they'd still be good was a stretch and having a mid of th apck ACC as your marquee non-conf game is a creampuff sched especially when the BE isn't good(it's better than I expected but still not very good).

Junc agrees with me! I dont know if thats good or bad. Since you, like I, dont think the Big East deserves a team there, who would you pick as deserving?

I dont know that that would necessarily be the case, going with your hypothetical, Even if Arkansas wins out USC still may be ranked ahead of them. Nevermind that I really cant imagine Arkansas winning out. I think theyll lose to Tennessee and LSU. LSU has gotten one of the worst schedules I have ever seen. They had to go to Auburn and Florida, and theyre going to Tennessee this weekend. I thought the Gators had a brutal schedule but at least they played LSU at home. Auburn and Tennessee got the benefit of playing both teams on at home.

How ND plays in the title game assuming they don't get leaped again for winning
    1. Ohio St. (9-0) - lose to Mich
    2. Michigan (9-0) - lose to Ohio St.
    3. West Virginia (7-0) - lose to Rut/Lou
    4. Florida (7-1) - doesn't win SEC title
    5. Louisville (7-0) - lose to WVU/Rut
    6. Auburn (8-1) doesn't win SEC title
    7. Texas (8-1) doesn't win Big 12 Title
    8. USC (6-1) automatic as ND plays them
    9. Notre Dame (7-1) wins out
    10. California (7-1) loses to USC
    11. Tennessee (7-1) doesn't win SEC
    12. Rutgers (7-0) loses to WVU/Lou
of course this setups a ND rematch vs. either Ohio St./Mich and if it doesn't happen ND gets an automatic BCS bowl bid if they win out(top 8 in BCS gives ND an automatic BCS bowl game I believe)

Let's go Mountaineers! As a WVU fan, I'm completely psyched about this year. They normally get hosed at one point or another, but maybe this year they can win out and things will be different.

Can someone tell me how Auburn is even ranked so high? Why is Arkansas ranked so low? I seem to remember Arkansas whipping up on Auburn and only losing to a legit USC team.

I'll let you read it again, moron. The SEC is not that much better than the Big East. I'd put WVU and Louisville up against ANY SEC team. And apparently the voters agree. You know the SEC isn't the same as it was last year or two years ago. It's just not the same. Florida is easily the best SEC team and man they have some weaknesses. You cannot honestly say right now that the SEC is worlds above the Big East. Like I said, that's just ignorant.

I was calling for the Big East to lose their BCS bid just like everyone else, but this year solidifies that they deserve it. Louisville and WVU could beat any team in the SEC. Rutgers could at least put up a fight with any team in the Big East. You're still living in two years ago.

You are imossible to please. They put a MAJOR program on their schedule and it's still not good enough for you.

We all know you will argue with everything under the sun, so it's not like I'm overly surprised. Pretty pissed off though.

WHY? Why are they more qualified? Because you perceive them to be better and it's that simple.

NO KIDDING THEY HAVE PLAYED "NOBODY" TO THIS POINT. WE UNDERSTAND THAT. TOMORROW YOU"LL TELL ME WE NEED TO DRINK WATER TO SURVIVE!
However, it does NOT mean West Virginia is worse than Auburn, Florida, or Texas or any other team.

Unless WVU or Louisville gets crushed in a bowl by a SEC or Big 12 team, the schedules will mean nothing.

What the hell? Michigan played Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
OSU played Texas and Iowa. They both played Penn State, who may or may not count as a good opponent. junc would obviously say PSU stinks.

I don't know. What teams in your opinion played numerous good teams this year? Do you want OSU and Michigan to schedule NFL teams in the future?

I don't have the answers, but it could be that WVU wanted to schedule somebody better than Maryland and was turned down. Then again, maybe not.
WVU's record by season starting with 1999:
    4-7, 6-5, 3-8, 9-3, 8-4, 8-3, 10-1.

Perhaps a huge team like Texas or USC or Florida didn't want to bother with WVU a few years ago when they were a middling team.

Maryland was supposed to be good. Ralph Friedgen was considered a genius after three quality seasons. I don't know exactly what went wrong the past two seasons.

I don't put as much stock in schedules as you do. You have an impossible task of convincing me West Virginia is shit compared to Auburn or Texas because WVU has had an easy schedule to this date. I have seen these teams play. WVU is at least as good as these teams.

The Colts were huge favorites in Super Bowl III because the Jets played a soft schedule. (The NFL teams considered the AFL to be a very weak league.) Soon enough the perceptions and schedule talk will go bye-bye. It will be time for reality. Last time reality hit, West Virginia put it on an SEC team's ass in that SEC team's home state. Go put that in your perception pipe and smoke it.

Who are you calling a moron? especially when you say the SEC is not much better than the BE. The 2 aren't even close, there isn't evn a discussion about who is better. WVU and UL MIGHT be big time teams but we don't know b/c they don't play anybody unlike the SEC teams who have tough games just about every week.

The Be has 3 ranked teams, each of which hasn't baten a quality opponent yet. The SEC has 5 rankd teams and a couple of good unranked teams who would compete for a BE title if they were in the BE. 'Bama, georgia and SC are all better than Rutgers and could compete w/ the top 2 and none of thm are even ranked. The SEC is MILES ahead of the BE.

So what? they put a mid of the pack ACC team on their sched- big deal! W/ the creampuff BE sched they should schedule at least 1 big time OOC game and another good OOC game.

WVU and UL COULD be better but they haven't shown it b/c they haven't played a good team yet. The 1 loss teams have played tough scheds and have proven how good they are- we don't know how ood WVU or UL are.

Micah played an overrated ND teama nd beat them bad- they deserve credit for that but Wisconsin and Iowa? Wisconsin hasn't beaten a decent team yet and iowa stinks. They were hyped coming into the year but they fell on their faces.

OSU beat texas, a good not great UT team, and who else have they beaten? a 6-3 PSU team?(they struggled in that game, the final score was deceiving), iowa?

How so? i just countered everything.

Jesus, man! What the fuck? Seriously.

Miami was NOT a middle of the pack ACC team when the season began. I think Miami was ranked in the top ten to begin the season. (Someone else can confirm what their rank was.) Somehow it is Louisville's fault now that Miami isn't good anymore?
You are saying you want the Big East teams to schedule big time out of conference teams and then when you get that in the Louisville-Miami game you still bitch.

Mike Tranghese was just on WFAN and mentioned this schedule stuff. He pointed out, as I did in one of these threads, that Louisville played Miami and Kansas State this year. You do realize those programs were top flight teams when Louisville scheduled those games, right?
He said West Virginia has been trying for years to schedule home-and-home series with some major teams, but those schools do not want to go to Morgantown for whatever reason.
West Virginia couldn't play Virginia Tech this year due to some ACC schedule issue.

Yeah, obviously, WVU and Louisville would like to play top programs, but if it can't happen, it can't happen. And then there are the times when it does happen and the opponents turn out to suck (see Louisville this year with Miami and Kansas State.) If one of them goes undefeated this year and is denied a chance to play for the national title, then they're going to need a playoff system or they will need to leave the Big East conference if they are ever going to win a national title in future years.

You are correct- the 1-loss teams have proven something. They have proven they can be defeated.

I think I wrote those two teams are "good." I'll stand by that. They are solid. They are not great. But again, they are good. It's not like they are Troy or Furman or Samford or Northeastern or Florida International or Richmond or William & Mary or Maine or Liberty or Appalachian State (those schools appeared on various ACC schedules in 2006).

To imply Ohio State is overrated because their schedule leaves something to be desired is odd. Seems to me you are not watching the actual games.
There is more to this than analyzing schedules.

    But not in good fashion.

By the way, this should be a good game tonight. If you are a college football fan, it is a must watch.

I am not sure who will win. WVU is probably a tad better, but the game is at Louisville. Whoever wins, I will root for that team to win out and play in the national title game. I understand how it is possible for Florida or Auburn or the Ohio State-Michigan loser to bump the undefeated Big East team, but I wouldn't think that would be right.

I mentioned this somewhere and I'll note it again. I wouldn't be surprised if WVU, Louisville, and Rutgers all beat one another and this whole discussion becomes moot.
