The Jets are stacked at linebacker, they've got run stopping beasts like Harris and Scott, not to mention Smith at safety. It really doesn't matter that none of them are worth a damn in the passing game because they shut down the other teams running game. It hurts to think about how much money the Jets have tied up in Scott and Harris after watching a pathetic performance like today.
because he has no idea how to manage a game? we barely testing oakland's lackluster secondary. barely. less than 5 times? Because thats the only time we break out the no huddle, which, just so happens to be the best form of our offense.[/quote] because he's old as shit and he sucks. he tried his best to cost us the dallas game and he cost us today. i've been begging the football gods to get him off of our roster since week 1. he went to FSU. End of answer. In all seriousness, every "great" defensive play i've ever seen cromartie make was one where he gets away with holding or pass interference. I was pretty upset when we didn't land Asomugha. Not because of losing out on him, but because it meant we would resign cromartie. Dude is NOT worth his huge ass contract. But now we're stuck with him.
Mack's right, I've seen it since week 1. The team is not good on the offensive line and Sanchez is just a guy. On D, we have a dominant player and a bunch of guys. Who saw pressure on Campbell today? I didn't. The Jets are average this year or slightly above. I hate to say it, but a lot of it is because of Sanchez. But it's also the O and D lines. Mangold and Ferguson are just 2 of 5...and Ferguson isn't much of a run blocker. Having Mulligan on the field on run plays is a giveaway. Sanchez has not improved. Cromartie is overhyped and overpaid. The jets will win some games but will be hard pressed to make the playoffs. By the time they play their next home game they will be 2-3.
I'm not defending Cromartie but some of those calls on him were complete nonsense. Same with the roughing the passer on Wilkerson. They got to call those both ways. Also i think Sanchez scored on that final play. He went down on his knee on his own will i thought. Your thoughts?
Sanchez was down, Seymour grazed him on the way down, and that's all you need. The roughing the passer on Wilkerson was negated by a grounding penalty that was questionable, so as bad as the roughing call was, it didn't really matter. I didn't like the calls on Cromartie at all, but that's not why we lost the game.
Yes. It is painfully obvious that this team is significantly weaker in key areas than last years team.
The Jets played poorly today and Oakland took advantage of it but the Jets are still a very good team. They have plenty of time to get better and the Raiders are much improved and had the luxury of playing us on the opposite coast in their building. No excuses, we win that game if Cro doesn't mishandle the kickoff and Sanchez took care of the ball early after Kerley's great punt return. That being said.... I think you're overreacting. This was game one of a rough three game stretch. We will continue to improve. Your point is valid however as we will only get as far as our Oline can take us and right now it's downright awful.
knock it off with the Maybin bullshit. You clearly don't know a thing about football if you think he'd make an impact against starters in the NFL. Holy fuck. Yeah, get maybin back and see him get shoved out of every play since the kid can't find his balance on a football field. And if that sentence is foreign to you, then keep quiet, because you can't comprehend why your opinion is awful. Aaron Maybin hasn't been signed with a team for a reason.
been saying this for a while now. I don't blame tanny at all for this but we desperately need an infUsion of young talent on this team for cheap depth...having drafts of so few players has been effective at the top end, but has left us with so little depth...I would love to see what tanny and Rex could do with a draft or two of full picks.
Rex needs to wake up.. this team can really be very good but some changes need to be made. The offense needs to stop fucking around for 2-3 quarters every game. The game play started out great today, then the Raiders adjusted. Shotty didn't adjust at all until the very end when they opened up the offense out of necessity. We HAVE TO throw the ball down field more often. We have very good receivers, and Sanchez looks pretty good for the most part. This dink and dunk crap is not working. Our O looks best when Sanchez is throwing down field. And on D, it looks like some big changes need to be made.. maybe go back to blitzing more or something, because this crap is not working right now. We get no pass rush whatsoever. Rex can't keep saying "That wasn't us out there", because right now that IS us. The D sucks and it needs to change.
Our D played terrible today and vs Dallas, we beat up a scrub in McCown but then again we were supposed to do that. The only think we knew was Oakland was going to force feed McFadden and Bush on us and we failed miserably to do anything to stop them. And if not for McKnight's block we would be 1-2. Our entire team needs to regroup in a big way and that starts with the trenches.
The last thing I wanted here was a Maybin thread. I would have preferred to keep Maybin around, but if they thought he could be the pass rusher that this team sorely needs, they would have kept him. Period.
Mack is no SOJF so the guys calling him out for making that type of post need to re evaluate who the poster is before they start calling him out on it. Everything Mack said is 100% accurate, we have absolutely no pass rush and our OL just plain sucked. Sanchez has not made the plays you'd expect a guy in his 3rd year to make. I just knew as soon as I saw him running on that play after the Kerley PR he was going to try and force something. The dink and dunk tell me one of two things, either our WR's are not open or the coaching staff has no confidence in the offense so they're playing it safe. Wilkerson is showing signs of being pretty good but my biggest worry was McFadden hitting a HR and he hit a few today. Just frustrating to watch on all accounts. What pisses me off the most is the league is trying to crack down on concusions and hits to the QB yet multiple times Sanchez was blatantly hit in the head and no flags came out. Oh and 5 1st downs handed to Oakland by Jet penalties.... that's not on the officials as all but one of the calls on Cro were legit, that's on the Jets defense not on the officials.
I agree. Hunter looks like he's gone backwards than getting better. The inside of the line has regressed. Mangold being out will hurt them more. Sanchez feels fucking rushed as shit. The plays can't go downfield because of it. More shorts steps and quicker throws equal the safeties not having to play over the top. The offense is sucking because the line has shit the bed. If they right the ship, this offense will start to flourish. They got smacked in the mouth today.
Can we give it 8 weeks before this shit? Nearly every team in the League has had a fuck-it-all game. Not only did the Jets play terribly sloppy, but they were still in it with a minute to go on the road against a team that may well win its division. Quit knee-jerking and calm the fuck down.
Doesn't change the fact that McIntyre is awful and Maybin actually did well in the preseason. After this game and until the BALT game Rex doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.
