Golden boy has also thrown 4 pics in a game. It is not like we would be benching Marino if White starts another game or two.
He didn't make a big deal about it at all, he just used it to show how much confidence he had in himself and went right on to the next topic. You really want all your guys to have that kind of confidence, not just your backup QB; unfortunate it didn't play out better when he ran head on into a top defense and got damn little support from his teammates. Look at about 4:45 in the video... Mike White and Zach Wilson have nothing but high praise for one another | Jets News Conference | SNY - YouTube
I find it funny with the guys wanting and making excuses for a Free Agent signing and the back-up QB over our second overall pick. This team needs Zach to be successful.
Me either it looks like they put a game plan together first day of training and just left it in for every game.
We need to win some games and Zach is not ready yet. Tired of tanking for a high draft pick that doesn't pan out. So at a minimum, they need to win some games and reevaluate. Cause what is happening right now looks exactly what has happened for the last decade. It's Flacco to the rescue.
I actually considered going back and putting some kind of age limitation on my post. Probably cap it at thirty so a guy can get in a dozen or so playoff seasons.
I'm not ready to close the book on the Wilson era just yet. I need to see a rookie play more than 5 games before throwing in the towel. Definitely a work in progress no doubt, but the talent is there. If Darnold got a full 3 years, why not give this kid at least 2? Can't go back in time and trade out of the spot or pick someone else at #2, so giving up after 5 games would really be a bad move. You have to give g a chance and that means more than 5 games.
You don't really believe that the amount of time given to Darnold should have any affect on the amount of time Wilson gets, do you? The draft pick is also water under the bridge - you're not going to turn the river around. For the record - I have never suggested that Wilson is finished. I also don't believe in "the eggs all in one basket" thing.
LOL, But you are willing to dump the 2nd overall pick after he played 5 games? What if Flacco does well does he keep playing? For all the people that are calling for coaches heads after a half a season, change in Schemes/Coordinators has a more negative effect on a young QB than anything else. Consistency in a system is how Brady and Manning became who they are. Can you image Manning having the rookie season he had and what this board would have been like. Yes, This team needs a QB to be successful and that means developing your 2nd overall pick even if you have to sacrifice wins in the short term. With Flacco starting this week I think says it all how the coaches view White. This regime will succeed or fail based on Zach. Let the kid learn how to play QB in the NFL and stop trying to replace him. In year 3 we can start all over again. This is year 1 of the new regime even though you do not want to admit it.
LOL? This is funny to you? You giggle all day Sunday when you watch the Jets? And no. I never said anything about dumping anyone after five games; where did you get that? Flacco is the last guy I want to see on the field when the Jets still need to find out what the other three guys can do, guys who all could be around for fifteen years or more. I don't have any interest in talking about Brady or Manning and I have no interest in talking about the hundreds of guys who failed in the NFL in the same period of time; nothing about them is relevant to Wilson, White and Johnson. Just because a coach has a scheme, it doesn't mean that scheme or that coach will work for everyone or anyone - nobody gets a pass on performing. I would suggest that a stubborn coach with a lousy scheme does more harm to the players than changing that coach for one who can adjust to the tools he has to work with and adjust his scheme to what works. Yes, we agree the team needs a quarterback to succeed but why do you want to limit the team to developing one specific guy? Develop whoever can be developed into the QB who can win consistently, that's what it's all about, there's no trophy for the draft, no rings, no banner to fly in the stadium. This team has a history of consistently getting the wrong guy, many more guys fail than succeed, deal with it. Those draft picks are gone - you're never getting them back; look forward, not backwards. I don't give the slightest crap for the "regime" and how much it was hyped as the next best thing, I want to see the team win and I don't give a flea turd about what quarterback can do that, hyped or not.
This mentality is why the Jets keep sucking. We are doing it different this time so we have some sustained success. It takes time to learn a new system, it takes time for a vet QB takes longer for the QB. We have a rookie at WR, A first year number 1 receiver in a new system, O-line learning a new system, A rookie running back and Rookie QB. It is going to look messy at times. You do not rotate Qbs you develop your rookie QB, WR, RB and hope they learn quickly. It is not about the hyped regime but learning a new offense and defense is hard for vets besides the rookies. Our Safeties are decimated , The LB core is struggling , The d-line is underperforming. They are all learning a new system. Next year it the year judge. This year will have big swings which has. It is like people have never followed football before.
Wait a second! You actually think that my thoughts on the Jets somehow have an effect on how the team is run; that's why the team keeps sucking? Get real man! The people running the football team neither know nor care what you or I think about how they're doing. And here's a news flash for you "we" are doing nothing different at all - "we" have nothing to do with anything the team does. They do what they want to do without any regard whatsoever for you or me. Unfortunately, whatever they have been doing hasn't worked very well in forever. Don't tell me it's not about a hyped regime when you just preached to me about giving the new regime unlimited time. Hope and hype seems to be the way you want the team run - how's it working out?
I'm going to go out in a limb and say Josh Johnson won't be playing football until he's 50 [/QUOTE] I'm leaning towards agreement; maybe he's only good for ten more years.
Hope and Hype now that is funny. Unlimited time? This coaching staff is in year 1. No regard for you and me yet Woody has made several moves because of fans flying banners and the type of coach they hire. I understand wanting to be better after sucking for so long but you had a depleted roster like the Jets it takes more than a year to fix it. You act like these guys are in their fifth year. We already won as many games as last season and we seven to go, I call that progress. If the team sucks this bad next year at this stage I can understand the hate. Unlimited time.
