For two weeks we heard all about Mike White and how Wilson should sit behind him and learn. It was proposed that White was the guy that gave us the best chance to win. The sentiment was pretty strong, with many agreeing that he gets the chance to become the FQB. Since then he's started one game against an excellent Bills defense. He still was able to complete the short passes but his deep passes were tragic. That was a knock on him coming into the game. Since the Buffalo loss I've haven't seen any support for White going forward. Does this guy only get 2 games to show what he has? He has one great game and one shit game. The NE game was garbage time and he had a great drive against the Colts. What should Saleh do? You may think I'm being an instigator, but it's an honest question. I wouldn't want to give up on Wilson after 2+ games. Should they give up on White?
Of course there is. Nobody expected the Jets to beat the Titans either. Anything can happen in the NFL these days. The Jets CAN beat the Dolphins and I think they will. I wouldn’t be shocked if they lost but my gut tells me at some point this defense is gonna step up out of pride if anything else. They’re not going to keep giving up 45 points a game. Adjustments will be made and the Dolphins aren’t exactly an offensive juggernaut. Of course this defense is still terrible overall and needs a lot of talent this coming off season….but the bleeding will stop even if it’s for a week or so here and there.
We can definitely beat the stinky fish. Look at the QB's we've lost too recently. Allen Wentz Jones* (has a great coach) Ryan We will be facing either Tua or Brissett. Most likely Tua. If we can't get the defense right against Tua we are screwed.
The OL needs upgrading, but using two 1st round picks is NOT the answser. One does not need 4 -1st round picks to have a strong OL, and in a few years, one or two would walk in FA because we couldn't pay them. That is not the way to go.
I think White is a decent QB - second string material. He relies on the short passing game to survive - can read the field pretty quickly but his long ball isn’t very good. So I would say - steady backup who can step in for 2-3 weeks and not lose the game. You are correct in regards to the Buffalo stinker. It was a collective effort but as for White - playing against a top defense will show any flaws a QB has. He’s not that guy - won’t lead a team like the Jets to an upset over a top ranked team but a decent back up.
I cant predict if Robert Saleh reedeems himsef over the next 7 games But theres an Upgrade needed at CS for a change (OMG again)..if we cant play defense and have a shit offense ...Plus RS has no idea how to coach a game (feh) ...who are we kidding? Somehow it wont matter who we draft or the OL improves etc...very depressing :/
If you take the 400yd game as an outlier, I would say White's body of work dictates he's a career backup.
at least ZW now owns the second-worst turnover play rate in the league (as he has been supplanted in the #1 spot by White....)
Any decent pick would walk in a few years if we didn't pay them. Not just the o-line. These arguments about not wanting to use too many picks on one position because they might leave after their rookie contract so isn't the way to go is bogus. Its the best way to go. Give us the problem of having more good player than we can pay.
I don't even really want White as our backup because he cant seem to play an entire game. We'd end up needing a solid backup for our backup.
Look like you'll get both with all 3 QB's. So what's the issue. White has looked horrible after his game one miracle. These NFL teams seem to figure out stuff pretty fast. The Jets not so much. Has Saleh and Ulbrich made any adjustments?
Well, I used nothing close and was banned for 8 months. So my comment was directed at those folks who saw to ban me but not the foul mouth wannabe sailor. Where and who are they?
Call me crazy but I would give Mike White he start next week if he is healthy. I don't think anyone on this roster could have been expected to do much against the Bills right now.
Its already tuesday evening. It seems like genius coach Robert Saleh would have made up his mind on his starting QB by now
It is not bogus. When you build an OL you want as many of them as possible to be together for as long as possible. That's how you get consistency, stability and quality play. Having to rebuild the OL every 3-4 years is insane! We'll just have to agree to disagree, because we're at opposite ends of the spectrum on how to build a team.
Adjustments? What are adjustments? I hear it's something that other teams do, but I'm not sure I've ever actually seen one myself.
White cut his own balls off when he came out with that “I shoulda been a number one pick” crap. You can’t say that then go out and shit the bed, no matter who you’re playing. The margin for error for a taxi squad player is small to begin with; talking trash and not backing it up seals your fate.
Much against the Bills? 4 picks and "much against the Bills" are two different animals. Any pass over 15 years was an abortion. But if that's what your football mind wants, so be it. Let's go Whitey!
