What? Josh Brown is a top 5 kicker in the league. I'd sign him right away. Also, a punter please! They have 6-7M in cap space after rookies and UDFA's. I'm thinking they hold most of that for an OLB who gets freed up. There will be one.
Full List The Jets have signed Furman CB Ryan Steed. The Jets have signed William Penn DT Damon Harrison. The Jets have signed Penn State CB D’Anton Lynn. He’s the son of Jets RB coach Anthony Lynn. The Jets have signed Boston College CB Donnie Fletcher. The Jets have signed Nevada DT Brett Roy. The Jets have signed Tulsa QB G.J. Kinne. The Jets have signed Utah OT John Wayne Cullen. The Jets have signed Penn State RB Stephfon Green. The Jets have signed Michigan State TE Brian Linthicum.
Anyone know how good are newly acquired kicker is? (Not really important but what is up with this team and getting people with the last name McKnight?) EDIT: Found out some things about McKnight From an article: McKnight made 21 of 25 field goals last season as the Grizzlies went 11-2, winning their final nine regularseason games. He obviously has a strong leg, making both of his attempts that were more than 50 yards. Between 40 and 49 yards, he was six for seven - his lone miss coming in a 31-28 loss at Sam Houston State in a semifinal playoff game. During Montana's pro day, McKnight made all eight field-goal attempts, including one from 60 yards. He added another from 55 yards. McKnight bench-pressed 225 pounds 24 consecutive times. "The fact that he does both (punting and field goals) makes him attractive for training camp," Scott said. "He's got a big leg and his kickoffs go into the end zone, something NFL teams usually are adamant about. He also punted well at the pro day." It is surprising that there aren't at least a few guys in the NFL doing both punting and FGs. I recognize that they are different skills, but if guys can pass and run or play WR and return punts, why can't guys punt and kick? You'd think teams would try this more to open up an extra roster spot.
Because if he gets injured you know have to fill two roster spots. Btw Damon Harrison is a bug time sleeper. Was one of the better small school players. I haven't seen video of him but he has a shot to make the practice squad or the 53 man.
