i feel ok about this pick but can’t help but to think we didn’t need to trade up and could’ve kept our picks and still had one of the top qbs

the best thing about Darnold is the way he keeps his head up and downfield the whole time in the pocket no matter what breaks down.

His ability to feel the rush and avoid it without having to see it is uncanny and reminds me of other franchise QBs.

The footwork and low carrying can be fixed. This was a great pick

Not to worry no one we would’ve taken with those picks would’ve panned out the jets suck at drafting

Rosen def has better footwork his overall mechanics are flawless. If he stays healthy he's gonna be a solid NFL qb, period. Darnold has higher upside though

Is health really the biggest question about Rosen?

If you read this, it might provide a clue:

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ams-made-a-mistake-and-they-will-rue-the-day/

“There were nine mistakes made ahead of me, and I’m going to make sure, over the next decade or so, that they know they made a mistake,” Rosen said, all but dropping the mic on his final answer of the night."

Personally I like the fiery attitude and that he was pissed, who wouldn't be? But wearing his emotions/thoughts on his sleeve will give some/most teams PR nightmares. Based upon what Macc has done so far in his tenure, he seems conservative, and looks to be trying to build suing the "slow and steady wins the race" formula, and Rosen is a jackrabbit. I do think Rosen is going to make all those teams regret passing on him, but for better or worse, Darnold is now our FQB (hopefully).

Darron Lee is a top 3 player? I didn't know that. I guess you mean Leonard Williams in '15 but he ain't much.

I've been a consistent Maccagnan basher for a couple years now but I have to give him credit for this. He didn't wig out and go for Cousins and he had the foresight to jump to #3 at the first opportune moment without giving up too much to do it. Then Cleveland Clevelanded and he comes out of this one smelling like a rose. I'm willing to give him a little rope now but not a lot. Bowles should already be gone as far as I'm concerned.

The only thing that matters now though is not playing him too much this year and throwing the kitchen sink at OL for the remainder of this year and next. The rest is up to Jah and the Marlboro Man's posterity.

Since I made the post you quoted, I've read some stuff that makes his medical history sound tragic.

So I'll just go ahead and tell my previous self that I was wrong. It's a real issue.

I'm very disappointed you got banned because I wanted to see what kind of feeble nonsense you'd respond to this post with.

Honestly who gives a damn that you didn't like Geno Smith? He was a 2nd round reach just taking a stab because you're always trying to find a QB when you don't have one and the opportunities usually aren't great so people make dumb reaches in hindsight just hoping and praying.

This is the consensus #1 overall pick of almost everyone for two years. TWO YEARS. Suck for Sam, do you remember that? You literally did not post here at all before the draft. And you come in bashing it to hell come high water AFTER? You're not even on the record before it happened. About any of them. Obviously you would've done the same thing no matter who they picked. Is there even a player you would've wanted? I wish I could read your answer to that at least. For the lols.

Oh wow you pointed out some busts that you didn't like. Real tough. Where are the posts calling for gems that didn't get taken? Where's your proof that you shouldn't be laughed at and banned?

There's quite a few people on this board that had a personal preference of someone above Sam. It's how it is, this was a super strong class and you could make for and against arguments about a lot of guys. Nobody serious steps back from this and says Sam Darnold SOJ woe is me. Maybe people liked Rosen better or Allen, heck even Mayfield. But nobody else just says Sam Darnold-Automatic Bust.

This was a day to rejoice after a decade of Jets suffering. The team finally has a chance again. I'm happy that 99% of this board gets that. It means something.

Welcome Sam but we do have to have the worst luck in the NFL outside of Cleveland. In the end, there is absolutely no way in hell that difference between Darnold and Rosen/Allen was worth 3 2nd round draft picks. Staying put at 6 sure looks better in hindsight.

Actually, there's no way in hell you have any idea of knowing that, just like there's no reason for anyone to feel any comfort in this draft pick other than a bunch of empty draft garbage that means nothing when a player takes the field.

    It's all garbage.

For all we know, some turd from Eastern Alabama Tech will be the next greatest QB in the history of the league, drafted on accident by the fucking Vikings in the 5th round.

He sounds like a spoiled bitch... Chip on the shoulder is one thing but he said he was CLEARLY better than the QB's selected before him.
It's like watching a kid speak.."Very Very..." I wish him success but he sounds like a dick to me.lol

I'm not talking about their outcome. I'm talking about them as prospects. By all accounts they were all graded closely to each other. This is why there were so many different opinions on who the top QB was. It's also why the Jets were willing to do a blind trade up to 3 well before the draft. They obviously would have been happy with any one of 3 guys.

I think Rosen looks middling. Too often he just misreads a defense completely for no good reason, doesn't find the right receiver to attack to the maximum. Not saying he's going to be a bad NFL QB...might be a fine one but I don't think he's anything special. Allen is complete feast or famine I don't see any middle there. If you're not a complete Allen believer I think it's hard to argue this wasn't an inspired trade up. I mean how can you know Cleveland is going to spazz AND the Giants are going to stay pat? You can hope and pray and hypothesize but that's an amazing turnout no matter how you slice it. Hard to knock the move at this moment. We won't know the truth of it for a couple years though.

That's a bunch of blab that only people who spend too much time pretending to be draft experts care about.

You and I both know that when pretending stops mattering and reality takes hold, all of that useless banter goes out the window unless you are accidentally right about something.

I honestly believe the Jets played the Browns (whether you believe in Mayfield or not). I believe their #1 guy was Darnold all along but they thought they would be picking between Baker and Rosen. And I think they were going to pick Rosen. But they made so much noise about Mayfield (wouldn't it make sense to leak your interest in the #3 guy if you are picking 3rd) and that happened to be the Browns guy. I think it pressured the Browns into taking Baker #1. But regardless of all that, giving up 3 second round picks to move up from 6 to get your first pick of the QBs is 100% worth it. There is no point in worrying about what happens after. For all we know the Jets trading up set a price floor that other teams couldn't get over, resulting in Allen and Rosen dropping.

Definitely not the first in the league. You remember Jay Fiedler our 2005 QB.
Sid Luckman won 4 titles as the Bears QB in the hall of fame.
    Sage Rosenfels is Jewish too.
I'm sure there are others too.

Did you see Rosen's pro day. Throwing strikes in the wind?

I'm still in shock over actually landing this guy.

He has felt unattainable for the entire process. Always expected him to go #1 overall.

    Still feels surreal.

    Very excited.
