I think this is about as good as value as you are guaranteed to get this deep in the draft. He's going to start. He's going to be at the top in the NFL at his position. I mean, if an offense stalls and has to punt, that sucks. If the punter fucking shanks it half the time or limp kicks it, that is fucking demoralizing. If the offense stalls, the punter bombs one that rolls out between the goal line and the 5 yard or the ball hits the ground and doesn't bounced forward and dies before the goal line, that pumps the whole team up. A punter pumping an entire team up after the offense sputters is ridiculous.
Most of the time picking a kicker is almost a throwaway move, but when you have a chance to get a guy like this, it's a steal. He's a difference-maker, and getting one of those in the 6th round is amazing.
If he's as good as he seems, then it's a great pick. Having a punter that can have that kind of impact on field position can be the difference in a close game. Just hope he knows how to kick in the wind and cold.
I hate drafting punters and normally I’d bitch about this but hell, the Jets are probably gonna punt a lot so might as well get a good one
I am 150% done with this dude. He sucks. You don’t “develop” a punter just because you drafted him. He can kick the seams off the ball or he can’t. And this kid can’t. On to the next.
He showed what he could do with a great punt today and then, the other side returned. Should have left him on IR and kept the older punter for the season.
Meh I mean he averaged 46.9 which is right what Moorstead is at for the season. He also had 3 inside the 20, which he seems good at. I honestly didn't have any qualms with him today.
The 29 yard shank just cannot happen. Your punter isn’t a Reggie Jackson type slugger where you can put up with the strikeouts in exchange for the bombs. He’s got to be consistent.
well in the sense of being consistent I do agree there. He tends to shank one too often, that hurt his average
