From one of the articles that I read that's likely in this thread or the other, Franklin's offense was predicated on longer developing plays. If that's the case, the play designs may have contributed to some of those sacks. It's very hard to tell without see all-22 footage.

Do you have a link to the Gruden camp on Hack?

yea, but he didn't have the defense's calls radioed into his helmet.

Does it really matter if it's Petty or Hack as long as one of them develops into our 10 year answer at QB? I don't really care which one it is.

You'd regress too if you had some moron changing your footwork, putting you in an offense for which your talents were not a good fit, and had the sorry ass OL he had to play behind.

It suggests nothing of the kind to a knowledgeable fan. That's just a dumb comment.

What part of his not being a good fit for Franklin's offense do you not understand? Do you understand the importance of fundamentals and how they influence accuracy in QBs? Do you understand the importance of a QB or any football player not having to think too much, feeling comfortable and confident, and being able to relax to do their best? Do you understand the importance of good OL play? Based on your comments, it certainly doesn't sound as if you understand any of that, yet I believe that you do based on past posts. I suggest you go back and watch his freshman year and forget about the last two years. Mac thoroughly vetted Hack and he knows a hell of a lot more than you or any of us do.

Hack has a better potential for nicknames. Hack attack, Hackmonster, Hackagedon... Petty is so bland.

It's on this thread, right below your post actually. I was really impressed watching it. If Hack can get his mechanics fixed, he'll be special.

Some things look underwhelming on the surface, but when you look at them again with some knowledge and in context, while still something he needs to work on, those are things that are fairly easy to fix. Other things look fabulous if you understand what you're looking at and want to see them.

You see "them" and I "don't" come on dude, cut it out. You wouldn't be trumping this pick so hard if he wasn't a Jet. It's okay to not like the pick and anyone who has questions about it are justified. It's up to Hackenberg to prove us wrong/right. He was inaccurate unless I'm seeing something different than you, happy feet, inconsistent throwing short/intermediate passes. A potential future NFL QB should be dominating future gym teachers, not getting dominated by them. But like I said, I'll reserve judgement.

For them, the argument is that if Christian Hackenberg was truly a dominant quarterback, he should have still done well despite what happened in his 2nd and 3rd year. Nothing more, nothing less.

Dumb argument in this case, but I'm sure that's the reasoning.

I don't see it, especially when Hack gets his feet set, his arm is on par with Cutler and he's got great touch 15 yards and out. Can improve in the short areas, Petty has him beat here. It's close but I'd take Hack's arm talent over Petty's pound for pound

    that made me laugh bro

Its hard to say this though because we haven't see anything like that before. There's nothing to compare it to.

Agree 100%. I will root hard for both of them.

I just don't agree that Hack is WAY more talented than Petty when Petty is actually a more talented pure QB. He just doesn't have experience in a pro style offense and he didn't have the hype Hack had heading into college.

Hack has the potential to be a prototypical NFL QB based upon his size and arm. I guess that's why he was looked at as a better prospect.

There is nothing he did in college that showed he was anywhere near as talented as Petty.

That's the way I look at the draft as well. You can find great players at every other position in free agency, but you aren't getting a great QB unless you draft him.

Passing on a QB that turns out to be great hurts your team more than missing another position in the draft because you took a shot at a QB.

If he wasn't a Jet, I wouldn't care one way or the other.

Yes, it's ok to not like a pick, and there are reasonable objections, concerns and questions, but it's totally asinine imo and over the top to say that he only looks like roster fodder. IMO if that's truly the only thing you can see in him and you can't see the talent, glaring positives and potential in this kid, then I don't know what to say.

Jets like having competition at every spot. I like the idea of two young QBs making each other better.

Dude, you're embarrassing yourself. I clearly pointed out the things in a previous response to you that explain much of why his accuracy has been so bad the last two years. If you don't understand those things, then you don't understand QB play and your evaluations of his potential are meaningless. You have a limited, myopic, unrealistic view of how football players are supposed to be. It's a good thing you aren't a scout or GM. You wouldn't last one day.
