Brady, Manning and Rodgers still dominate the headlines nationally any time they want, they aren't even playing
Until something goes dead wrong to tarnish their Lilly white money making aura like concussions and brain damage in the past and then too little too late they give you the BS line of how much they care about players and change it. There is a direct correlation between number and severity of injuries due to Astro turf versus grass but that money grabbing owners and the league does not do two shits about it. If we had a no kidding real player union with some balls the NFL will adjust in a hurry.
Ratings are down around 1 million viewers per game but a lot of that can be attributed to TNF moving solely to Prime. The revenue is at an all time high, the national broadcasts are setting records… the NFL has no reason to make the game more enjoyable for fans.
Yup. They are capitalizing perfectly on the Mahomes and Hurts and Rodgers of the world. The machine is undeniable, for better or worse. The draft is one of the leagues finest accomplishments. I can’t believe every year I watch 3 days and 7 rounds of it. And that’s after I can’t believe I watched multiple days of the Combine.
I think they always have a reason to make the game more enjoyable to fans. losing 1 mill viewers a week compared to past years is as good as any
Meaning they need to do something about that. People tune in, they don’t want a half hour delay for a major injury
Does anyone have the angle and maybe slomo on Hurts TD? This was a rough one to overturn, but just wondering if anyone has an angle where we can see something? Or it was overturned because he is MVP candidate and we are the Jets (like the Mahomes pick against KC)?
It’s wild they overturned it. As soon as they rushed to commercial break and didn’t show any angles I knew they were going to overturn it too.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...ational-revenue-reaches-11-98-billion-in-2022 “National revenue has grown 68 percent since 2016, when it was only $7.12 billion. National revenue crossed the $10 billion threshold for the first time in 2021.” Here’s why they don’t have to care about the fan experience. The play on the field keeps getting better, and the revenue keeps growing, or do they give a shit if they get a few calls wrong here and there?
How does the TNF broadcast moving cause them to lose a million viewers a game? Honest question but that doesn’t seem like that’d average out across the entire league schedule. TNF is a travesty though. It’s just not right to do to those guys bodies.
It’s exclusively on Prime now which limits the audience and gives the league less numbers to add up to make the viewership look better. It used to be on NFL network, one of the networks and I think it was also on Prime at the same time. They report their numbers based off the entire viewing audience for the full season spread across however many games there are in a season. 16 weeks or whatever it is of three outlets reporting viewership for TNF goes a long way as opposed to just Amazon prime reporting viewership.
That being a penalty by the rules is one of the biggest problems with the NFL right now. Shit like that has ruined the game. Dude was squared up and had his head down, if he didn’t see the block coming it is own damn fault.
Lazard didn't even launch into the guy... he basically just ran up and parked in front of the Eagle player. Point being he could have really put the wood to him and didn't. Oh well... rules is rules... and we drew twice as many flags as the Eagles. Gotta clean that shit up.
The problem is that once you are ahead of the play you need to have the play come to you. Or get back and then move forward again. Basically they don't want to have folks moving backwards and tag defenders which are trying to play what's in front of them, because most likely they wouldn't see it and there is a higher probability of a concussion from a hit you don't see. It's not a hard concept to understand and to follow and it does help player safety. It's easy to call too. We had exact same play with the same outcome in preseason, and Rodgers pointed it out to Cobb and they aired it on HBO. Lazard didn't learn, and made a dumb mistake and he should have known better. This ended up being a 40 yard penalty! And there was no need for it, GW already had a huge gain on a free play. This was the best drive the offense had all game. Thankfully he got another chance to learn on our mistakes without paying the ultimate price as we ultimately won. I trust this will not happen to the Jets again.
Do you think they’ve lost like 50 million viewers on TNF to the point where it’d be down a million a game for the entire season? That doesn’t make sense.
The problem with the league is all they care about is more money. Their priorities are merchandising, network deals, and gambling. Football, winning and losing, their legacy, are all just details to to be exploited for more money.
Gambling will end up first on that list soon. And at that point it will be unwatchable for me. I can only watch the NBA because the Spurs haven't sold out yet. The NFL is getting there.
Its amazing they allowed the owners to partner with gambling. Of course games are getting rigged. Never in the history of sports has gambling ever not corrupted a league it was in bed with. Its a shame because the league used to be a great American institution.
