Geez I went back and read the post I quoted and it said right in the opening phrase he was talking about 2002.

I really do apologize. Work can be so distracting at times.

I think here you may have misunderstood the thrust of my post. What I was really saying is that yardage allowed is a misleading metric in judging the Jets D this year, and more so than usual. The reason is the D has been dealing too often with problems presented them by the O such as in particular the turnovers that have led to poor field position.

A team that gives up yardage sparingly, but runs a turnstile in the red zone - kind of the opposite of the Jet O.

Well, it's definitely not a prediction. Just a funny little similarity... But we'll all be hoping for a similar result.

It's also a reminder that big turnarounds are possible at any time.

Only if you have the balls to take a chance and accept risks. The Jets' run back in the day was financed by big money spending by Tannenbaum. We handed out big contracts, got big names and talent, and in short order, became relevant.

That 2002 turnaround was before Tannenbaum and that sort of approach... Not sure what exactly kickstarted the team in 2002

And again, reading is still fundamental. I never argued that the yards allowed statistic, in and of itself, is sufficient for adequately ranking NFL defenses. (In fact, I explicitly acknowledged that the yards allowed statistic has its own issues) I only highlighted a couple of obvious reasons why it is irrefutably superior to the points allowed statistic.

Chad Pennington played extremely well, and ultimately was the main reason our season was turned around.

It's gonna be 88 degrees and sunny. Gotta think that heavily favors the Chargers given the 2 teams playing styles

to pull off upsets (and traveling to the west coast and beating rivers in san diego would certainly be an upset) you need strong efforts from your special teams, your back 7 needs to make plays, you need to convert in the redzone and your QB cant throw up all over himself.

I think in past years, we were able to pull off some upsets because our special teams was elite and our defense 1 through 11 was excellent. right now, our special teams isnt great, and our backs 7 is poor. As we have seen, even when our defensive line dominates, it isnt enough to over come poor back 7 play, poor offense, and mediocure special teams.

we need to find a way to get the return game going, and we need to make some plays on the back end on defense. We cant afford more then 1 turnover, if that

This whole 90+ degree thing has me scared. That was one of the biggest factors as to why Seattle lost that game, they just get gassed and couldnt handle it. Im not sure the Jets can either, definitely concerned about this game if I wasnt already.....
