They have been trying to get him to bump since last year. He gets preached to him every week. For whatever reason he either forgets or thinks he is better but playing pursuit....he isn't.
This is kinda ridiculous. Bottom line is that neither team is going anywhere unless the Patriots fix their defense or the Jets fix their offense. The Patriots can go score-for-score with any team in the league, but that means Brady has to be nearly perfect. (See Bills game.) They can't stop ANYone, and it's really just what Sanchez needs right now to face a team like that. Ten years ago the Ravens won a Super Bowl with an all-world defense and an offense that was barely passable, but the NFL has changed a lot since then. You need to play at least marginally well on both sides of the ball. (And sorry, but right now the Jets' offense is just as awful as the Patriots' defense.) Whatever happens on Sunday it's still early October. It's an important game, especially since the Patriots already lost a divisional game and the Jets are a game back, but nothing will be decided for good here. One team will get bragging rights for a few weeks, that's about it.
The pats should be favored to win. If we get one of those days were Brady is making every single throw he feels like making it will get ugly. That being said the pats are about as ideal of a matchup as the jets can get from a top level team. The offense is shell shocked after two terrible performances by the line. Thankfully the Pats D can't stop anyone so they should be able to get some positive things going. If the D can find a way to hold Brady and the O to 24 points or less it would be reasonable to expect the Jets O to put up enough points to win the game.
I just want to see a close, hard fought game with no stupid mistakes. I can live with a loss to a great team, in their stadium, IF we play respectable football and not give the Patriots 21 points on turnovers. The Pats and Jets are so familiar with each other that you can pretty much throw out how they've been playing the 4 weeks prior because it's an entirely different ball game when 2 division rivals get together. For us Jets fans, beat the Pats, on their turf, and we'll be back on top of the football world, whether we deserve to be or not.
I'm not going to claim the Pats D is secretly good but the total yardage stat is way overrated. Sure Sanchez should have a good outing after being hammered for two weeks but they need to put points up not yardage.
I have watched a good amount of 3 pats games this year. The defense is terrible. No sugarcoating it is possible.
we can win this game. nobody thinks we can, but i trust our defense to get turnovers. its on our offense to convert those turnovers into touchdowns, not field goals. we do that and i think we win. if schotty cant get the offense going this weekend against a horrible d, then we may need a new cordinater.
The thing is Brady is usually close to perfect. When was the last time he gave up 4 picks in a game? 5 years ago. He set the fewest interception record last year. One less pick and NE wins the game against the Bills. If anything the offense is looking better this year because of the maturity of the tight ends and the addition of Ridley. The Pats really do need to fix their defense to get it to at least average. What they are doing won't work in the playoffs, which has been demonstrated the past two years. They get by in the regular season with that because the offense and special teams don't give the opposition good field position very often, which means that the team gives up few points per yard allowed. It's not like the Jets, who have a good defense, but their offense bleeds points and field position like a stuck pig. Are the Pats going to get it fixed this year? I don't see it happening. The pass coverage if anything seems to have regressed rather than building on the gradual improvements that happened over last year. It may get better from here, but it has so far to go that I'm very pessimistic about it being playoff ready by the end of the year. If you're a Pats fan it's a bloody shame because this glorious offense is being wasted. They really ought to rethink the whole approach to defense, and that includes redoing the defensive coaching staff and approach to the draft.
Bill still thinks it 1986 where his defense works .. it's 2011, gotta keep up with today's hi flying offenses ..

Yeah, Brady doesn't throw out the stinkers too often, but historically speaking, teams that over-rely on their passing game do not go very far come playoff time. I like what I saw last weekend on the ground but they need to repeat that versus the Jets. I don't think the defense is fix-able with the guys they currently have on the roster. I just hope they can improve as the season rolls along to a point where they can compete.
Huge game...Its time Sanchez stepped up. Seriously, if he plans on being the franchise QB. These games with almost everything on the line is where he knows how to get ready. Hopefully they run that rock up Wilfork and Haynesworths asses
My apologies for taking you seriously, and thinking you were initiating a legitimate football discussion. I should have realized who I was dealing with. Not to worry, JC, it won't happen again.
Hey guys. I've been reading this forum for a couple years now. Since The Pats V Jets rivalry really started to get going. Needless to say, I'm a Pats fan. But don't hold that against me lol So, I'd just like to first start off by saying that, even with some early struggles on the Jets side, I still respect your team. And The Pats, obviously, are having some big struggles of their own. With the short offseason, I think switching our defensive scheme has really come back to bite us on the ass. So I'm pretty worried about playing the jets this week. We don't seem to have the ability to offer a consistent pass rush. And I'm not sure we'll be able to pressure sanchez, even with the noticeable inability of your O-line being able to sustain protection. But hey, you were playing the ravens lol I mean, once they saw some blood, you really saw that they had the momentum, on the line. The Jets, I believe, will have the ability this week to exploit our weak secondary. Tall strong receivers are going to be the Achilles heal of the pats this year. An obvious statement, but an important one with this weeks game. Pats are going to have to score and score often, which they have the ability to do. But if any team can shake up The Pats offense, it's the jets. That's all I really wanted to say. Anyways, hope its a good game, and jets suck lol
1986 worked fine in 2003 and 2004. They held Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison 3 points in a playoff game. That's about as high flying as it gets. It boils down to Bill having trouble finding replacements for Harrison, Bruschi, Vrabel, Seymour, Ted Johnson, McGinest, Colvin, Law, Samuel, Wilson and Gay, all of whom stopped showing up in Patriots unis for one reason or another.
