I think the Jets might get raped in this game. Factor in how awful they have played, how bad the line has been, how awful Sanchez is, how clueless Schotty is, and how bad the pass rush has been WITH the fact that Belichick and Brady want to destroy the Jets and will try to put up 70 on Sunday, and it is hard to feel good about this game.
Will be out in the Amish country for the weekend until Monday, kinda pissed. But my dad and uncle say there are a few bar type places that we could watch the game. Hope they even have the JETS on instead of Philly or Pittsburgh.
That's a pretty disastrous injury report for the Patriots. How bad would we feel if LT, McKnight, Brick, and Harris were out?
Um, comparing Vollmer to Brick at this moment is insane. Mayo is the only disaster in there. The other spots, the Pats have plenty of depth and guys who can pretty much come in and fill the job.
Mangold is key. Jets should run a few screens also. On defense they need to produce a rush. Not a necessity to sack Brady, just hit him.
You know that if the Pats win the coin toss and get the ball first, the game might be over after the first drive, right? I can see it already: Brady leads a TD drive. 0-7 The offense gets the ball, Schotty calls 2 runs and a pass short of the first. 0-7 Brady gets the ball back, drives for a TD. 0-14 Then the offense goes 3 and out. 0-14 Brady leads them for a fg. 0-17 Then the game really gets fun when the Human Turnover Machine will start scoring points for the Pats. 0-24 The game might be over by the half..
It may be a bit overstated but its NOT insane. Volmer has a reputation of being one of the top young OTs in the league. Equating him to Brick would be as big an overstatement as equating him to Hunter would be as big an understatement. At the start of the season, Volmer was the 2nd best OLman on the team. I think because the Pats are so mum about injuries all the time it goes unnoticed how banged up the Pats have been since the start of the season. Over just 4 games, the Pats have had to replace 3/5ths of their OL, and did it without skipping a beat. Jet fans should give the Pats some credit for that feat, especially given the complete failure of the Jets OL after just having to replace Woody, and Mangold's 2 game injury. OTOH the Pats had to replace one guy due to retirement, and their 2nd and 4th best OLmen due to injury. They've also had to deal with not having 2 of their top 3 CBs the last 2 games, as well as 2 key DLmen, and a key Receiver. Even this week, where the Pats might be as healthy as they have been all year, the Pats had 16 players who were unable to participate fully in practices or were deemed out for the game. The Jets had 5 Other teams play the injury card all the time. Its just not the Patriot way. So ultimately it IS very fair to ask the question, how would the Jets fans would feel right now if they knew that Harris, LT and Hunter weren't playing, and know Keller and DaVito were iffy. Well that's the situation the Pats are in right now. (BTW I'll give you Hunter over Brick in this example even though Volmer is the superior player, because, given how the Jets FO Built this roster, you'd still have to replace this bad player, with a worse one.)
This is the best injury report the Pats have had this year. They potentially get Haynesworth, Wright, Bodden and Dowling back on defense, and Vereen, Price and Hernandez back on offense. The Pats have good depth at OL and RB so Vollmer are Woodhead are not significant. Mayo hurts though.
