Oh my god a sensible well mannered Raider fan..... I hope you stay around this week you seem like a cool dude unlike the douche Raider fans that lurk these boards on Raider week
I see this game being being very close. I really think that our defense will be fine containing Oakland's receivers and even Mcfadden in the run game, but what I am worried about is McFadden and Reese out of the backfield. A RB like McFadden in the passing game is a huge threat to a defense like ours that blitzes alot. My guess is that you will be seeing a lot of big nickle allowing us to have 3 safeties on the field to help out with Oakland's speed.
Yes. Game manager. Manages to win enough games to get in the playoffs and manages to beat Manning and Brady in the playoffs last year. Most teams would be happy to have such a game manager. By those standards, when was the last time the raiders had a QB that wasn't a game mis-manager?
This game will be close I'm thinking that the raiders look good early on but we make some plays in the 2nd half and win 27-23
The term game manager isn't an insult in this context. Sanchez doesn't have to go out and win games by himself most of the time. A running game and a good defense means that Sanchez just has to be smart with the ball and if a drive doesn't work out then your D will likely get him good field position coming back the other way. But if you want to put him in the same league as a Brady or Manning or Roethlisberber, you're mistaken. Sanchez does well at what he's supposed to and that's more than can be said for most quarterbacks in the NFL. He has a good supporting cast in both players and coaches and he functions well when staying within himself. And I suspect he'll only get better as time goes on. But as of right now, he's not some automatic lock for first ballot HoF induction. Not since Gannon but Campbell's become an effective manager. When was the last time the Jets had a serviceable quarterback before Sanchez? I don't really see that it has d!ck-all to do with anything happening this week but you brought it up.
Yeah. I shouldn't have responded to that portion of JC's post. This isn't a history thread so I should have left it alone.
Defenses pound right down the middle It's not our defense I'm concerned with, defenses will pound right down the middle on us and it could get ugly. We might get by without Mangold this week. Raiders ( trick or treats, we are better all around ) stay healthy and a must win Ravens( this game is about hello HNgha and Suggs ) ooch! Patriots (Henderson and company ) double ooch Miami ( we have yet to beat them lately ) don't want to go there
Actually you brought up 'game manager' ... basically damning with faint praise. Just realize that we have fans from other teams coming in every week saying that they will win the game because Sanchez doesn't have great fantasy football stats. The Colts and the Pats were going to kill us because their QB' were better. This year Romo was better- oops... until they played the game. The Jags fans weren't quite delusional enough to say that their QB was better, but the 'loved their match ups' against the Jets because the didn't think Sanchez merited much consideration. Sanchez has had a bit of a rough time this season (so far) because of pressure coming in his face due to OL injuries. If they can't get the personnel, they'll get a game plan. Sanchez with time, and rolling out of the pocket can be very dangerous.
Lol your spelling errors can get quite frightening at times.... I lol'ed when I read And who is Henderson on the patriots? LMAO you mean Haynesworth?
Hey guys, I'm a diehard Raiders fan (from New York) coming in peace. I just wanted to come here to get a better idea of what to expect this weekend, and also to offer some input for any questions about the Raiders that you may have. It seems both teams are getting the short end of the stick with NFL scheduling. They flew us all around the first two weeks, only to reward us with you guys and the Pats at home. I'm cautiously optimistic about our offense. Campbell looked solid and so did the OL. Some of our young guys stepped up at WR, and we didn't seem to miss a beat. Boss should be back this week, and I expect him to be a huge factor considering your corners are far superior to Buffalo's. I missed the Jets game because I was at Bills/Raiders, but the final score was pretty lopsided. Was it ever in doubt? I'll be popping in and out from time to time, but don't worry I'm not here to troll. You guys seem head and shoulders more knowledgeable than the Jills fans that I had to deal with all week. I'm looking forward to some serious football talk here. Best of luck this weekend!
Welcome.... The Jets -Jags game was basically over early, Jets had a TD on the opening drive, and then sacked the Jags QB for a safety on their first possession. Jags did manage to score on a long FG to avoid a shutout. I think the Raiders best bet for trying to move the ball against the Jets is to figure out some plays that don't require passing or running the ball. Whatever that may be. Our offense is having some problems due to injuries on the OL, but hopefully we can game plan around that.
I've always been a Jason Campbell fan and thought he's a real solid QB. Not a high ceiling, but enough ability to have success...he's just been in some shit situations throughout his career and constant coaching changes. This game won't be easy, I expect a slow start on defense.
I see the Raiders D-line feasting on Sanchez...hell if Jacksonville's craptastic line can get to him that often then things don't look good.
Our O-Line usually responds well after having a bad game, they were on pace to do so against Jacksonville before Mangold went out.
