I think our pass rush is going to look better this year than a lot of people think. The Raiders went out of their way to protect Carr as much as possible, at the expense of having a remotely productive offense. We followed that up with one of the hardest QB's in the league to sack, and we still managed 4 sacks and quite a few QB hits. I want to say 10 hits, although I can't remember for sure. Cutler is definitely not one of the hardest QB's to sack, especially behind his deteriorating offensive line. People are sleeping on Coples, even though he's looked really nice this year. He wrecked Jones-Drew on limited snaps, and sacked Rodgers once and hit him 3 other times.
Rodgers is actually one of the easiest QBs to sack because he is constantly trying to go for the big play and holds onto the ball too much. Go look up the stats...
You are entitled to your opinion on their OL, but the fact is Cutler has only been sacked 3 times in the first two games.
between the bills n 9ers, they have 10 sacks total, 30% of those were cutler...so ya not the greatest OL....
I read somewhere that 75% of Cutler's passes this year have been between 0-5 yards in the air. That's why his sack numbers are so low this year.
Football Outsiders has an offensive line ranking system. While Chicago ranks 22nd for run blocking, they rank 11th for pass protection. They also cite 3 sacks total. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol
that's all well n good but the discussion if we can get to cutler or not...the two teams that has faced him, 30% of the sacks between the two teams is from cutler. i havent watched bills this year so can't say how good their d line is but i saw the 9ers against the bears, they def isn't close to what is was last year and i do believe jets have a better front than the 9ers atleast imo
Thats true, but that wasnt really happening this past week. He was getting rid of the ball super fast, it was almost annoying. On plays where the Jets werent being held and actually got to Rodgers, he got rid of the ball too quick. He played a great game and took advantage of the secondary.
That plays well for us. The deep ball is troublesome but we can be pretty good with the ball in front of us. Just got to make sure we finish tackles
I am not making a prediction that Cutler will have great protection. I just question the assumption that he will not have decent protection. Presumably the stats quoted were developed when they had already begun to be hit with injuries.
That...is a really weird way to try to prove that an OL is bad. The Bills and 49ers have played 4 games between them. 50% of those games were vs the Bears, but only 30% of their sacks actually came against them. Sooooo...I'm not sure how you can draw some "bad OL" conclusion from that.
i didnt say they have "bad ol" i said they didn't have the greatest ol, middle of the pack at best. i do believe our def front, will have a good chance to get after cutler
http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/43407/holmes-striking-new-tone-in-return Sure sounds like he and his former teammates got along.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't want to see Decker or Miliner in this game. They're hurt, and liable to get even MORE injured for an extended period of time if they play. It makes no sense to put them out there when they're not at 100%, if Rex does that, it'll be the dumbest move he's made all year.
Our dbs don't stand a chance the next 5 weeks if we don't get constant pressure from the line we will like all 5 games
All I can add to this thread is... Thank God we don't have to face Devon Hester on KO's or PR's.. That would truly be embarrassing considering our stellar special teams play.
