Lots of key players missing from both sides. If Sanchez continues to perform like last week, I really like our chances. Jets 24-17
I hope I'm wrong but I don't see the Jets winning this game. Steelers have a lot to play for on Sunday.
I hope you & I are BOTH wrong, but not only can the the Steelers not afford to go 0-2, but I thought they played fairly well against Denver ( I only got to see some of the game, so maybe not). I expect them to come out at home with a lot of intensity. If we are for real this year we will have to match and exceed that intensity, but not to the point that we don't execute properly. I also wonder if Sporano will employ wildcat...
I wrote this in the Tebowmania forum but it applies here too: Every minute a team spends preparing for The Tebow is a minute they will never get back to prepare for the Jets' standard offense run by Sanchez. Or at least that's what Rex has been saying since we grabbed St.Tebow. THIS is the weekend where it will show up. The taste of Tebow throwing for alomst 300 yards, 2 TDs, 0 pics, to knock the Steel Curtain out of the playoffs is very fresh in the the mouths of the Black and Gold. Of all the teams we play this season, the Steelers will be the most determined to prevent another Tebow-mania melt down. The Jets have shown very little of Tebow. It's still a big guessing game, which makes it very difficult to prepare for. From strategy session, to class room, to game film, to on field practice, if the Steel Curtain is determined to stifle any Tebow nonsense, and they most certainly will be, they will have to rob Peter to pay Paul. Will Sanchez benefit from an 'under prepared' defense? How can we even tell during the game? Thing's I'll be looking for are blown coverages leaving WRs wide open, a staple Mark loves like play action or roll out that the Steelers simply can't stop, or a handful of 'trick plays' we almost never run that the Steelers are completely unprepared for. If Rex is right, then this is the game it will show up.
That was the main reason why I was so for the Tebow trade when it was made despite the meltdown this board had. There are no more 2 a days. There is not as much practice time as there used to be and now teams are going to spend more of it preparing for a small section of our offense because if they don't we could just keep running it. Tebow will help the run game but more importantly he throws off opposing defenses by being in the huddle and just by wearing a Jet uniform.
The Jets have a lot to play for as well. This game can affect their playoff positioning. I don't buy that the Steelers (or anyone else) wins because they "have to" or have more to play more. That's silly emotional BS, skip bayless level analysis. Do you really think the Steelers weren't thinking that they HAD to win last week as well? It's about executing plays on the field, not who wants to win more or what they are playing for lol. That's a bailout and a lot of people are doing that. The game of football matters. Both teams have critical holes on defense. It will probably end up being a shootout. 30-24 Jets.
I have that same feeling, once Ben keeps a play alive he is going to expose our backup corners. This may actually turn into an offensive shootout.
I'm pretty confident with what Wilson may be able to do on the outside. I don't know much about Lankster which kind of scares me considering he will be on Sanders or Cotch. I originally put this game in the loss column, but I was very impressed with the offense last week. Stephen Hill will have a good game. The Steelers CBs are not veery good other than Taylor who gets beat deep a lot (hopefully he is on Hill). I was not impressed by the Steelers. Their o-line is one of the worst in the league and I say that with confidence. Mike Wallace is the prefect receiver for Cromartie to play, so he should be on lockdown. Antonio Brown is very good and will probably have a good game. 24-20 Jets
31-24, Pittsburgh. Nothing to over-react or get mad about though. It's only Week 2 and this is a 10 win team.
this game is the perfect storm im afraid...revis out, they're 0-1 and its their home opener. steelers 24 jets 13
