Lilly-Page is close enough to have a good debate. Both make my top five DTs list. The thing is if you go by lists put out by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, media, and league personnel Lilly appears more often than Page.

As far as your comparisons comment, I have been doing that. I compare my running backs to your running backs and I go down the line at each position. Then I look at receiver-cornerback matchups, weakside linebacker and right defensive ends vs fullbacks and left tackles, strong safeties vs tight ends, offensive lines vs defensive lines, all sorts of stuff like that.

What the heck. I'll list the honors of Bob Lilly and Alan Page.
I don't get too crazy with Pro Bowl selections, but All-Pro selections are very important to me.

Lilly played from 1961-74. 14 seasons, 11 Pro Bowls.
Page played from 1967-81. 15 seasons, 9 Pro Bowls.

    All-Pro Selections
(I only looked at all-pro and all-league nods- not all-conference. Note: some years there were as many as eight teams, such as 1969 {see below}, named and some years there were only four. All have been taken into account below.)

    Bob Lilly
    1964 1st team unaminous selection
    1965 1st team unanimous selection
    1966 1st team unanimous selection
    1967 1st team unanimous selection
    1968 1st team All-Pro and All-NFL unanimous selection
    1969 1st team All-Pro or All-NFL selection by seven news services/publications
    1969 2nd team All-NFL by UP
1970 2nd team by FW and NE
    1971 1st team unanimous selection
    1972 1st team by PW
1972 2nd team by AP, FW, NE

    Alan Page
    1968 2nd team All-NFL by UP
    1969 1st team All-NFL by UP
1969 2nd team All-NFL by AP, NE, and NY
1969 2nd team All-Pro by HF, FW, and NE
    1970 1st team unanimous selection
    1971 1st team unanimous selection
1972 2nd team by AP, FW, and NE
    1973 1st team unanimous selection
    1974 1st team unanimous selection
1975 1st team by AP, FW, and PW
    1975 2nd team by NE
1976 2nd team by AP, FW, and NE

They each had nine seasons where they at least received a 2nd team nod from a news service or publication. Lilly was a unanimous 1st team selection at DT six times, Page four times.

Huh huh huh huh huh. Wow. The moment MSUJet85 and I had a problem with Jake, he came over here and cast a vote against me.

I contest that vote. Absolute bullshit.

You think making these public will embarass me or something?

    It may prove
    A) you lack the history of the sport to place a good vote. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We all have different likes and dislikes. You may be a hockey history buff, you may be a car nut, you may be a stamp collector. But you may be in over your head here.

What making these things public would do is this-
    A) point out personal grudges (if we see that so-and-so is voting against Donnie every time, we know something is up) and discount those votes
    B) we would ask voters to post reasons (this ties into the first "A" from above).

I knew it was very likely I wouldn't get your vote.

If you were classy you wouldn't hold a grudge so much so that you'd go and skew this tournament.

What you could have done was avoid Cakes game threads since bias was going to be a big issue.

Or you could have voted against my team in every game and given really good reasons for doing so.

That's legit. Discount my vote. Good luck the rest of the way.

    Hopefully, that's genuine.

I'm not going to hold a grudge against you if this stops now.

There are two people at tgg I really don't like and that's more than enough trouble.

I'm sorry Cakes, but you arguing a vote is bullshit. Jake may think I have the better team. Just because you don't get every vote because you think your team is invincible, doesn't mean you have to argue ever god forsaken vote against you.

You argued votes with the other game as well and it's rather annoying. Just let it be, bro.

He basically admitted his vote was bogus.

I'm supposed to let that be?

And don't worry. I won't be coming around here much more after this. Too many people got annoyed here of late.

For the record, I have protested three votes.

1st vote I protested- a vote in the 1028-J_V game thread.

2nd vote I protested- a vote in the Cakes-Murrell game thread.

3rd vote I protested- a vote in this thread which was the result of a beef someone had with me. It's all here for us. The vote had nothing to do with the teams. Check the timeline of my posts and Jake's posts of last night and then read what we posted.

I have protested two votes cast against me. There are 17 I have not protested, although I'm beginning to wonder about some of them too now since so many people can't stomach me anymore.

I would have been pleased if after the draft the ten of us discussed our teams and other tgg members did, too. Out of such discussions we could have come to a consensus of who drafted the best teams.

I like the effort put forth by Murrell. Unfortunately, the poll system is very faulty and I now regret getting involved in this whole thing.

As a result of all this recent ill will I will be exiting tgg in the near future.

It's too bad because prior to this I never had any significant run-ins with people here. It's ironic that the area of my expertise (NFL history) did me in here.

My competitive nature demands that I cannot sit idly by and "let it be". That's just the way it is.

I can guarantee that Jake was really trying to avoid a fight. I'm not trying to start anything with you Cakes, but I was just pointing something out.

A board of judges might have been more fair and public polls are much better.

Isn't this preseason anyway? It should be a trial and error period anyway.

Handshakes all around. I hate to see folks I fancy getting upset. This is a gentleman's game as it appears to me, and it's staying civil as well it should. Maybe what's going on here is that there's a chess approach and a checkers approach to the concept. Meeting somewhere in the middle should iron out the kinks. Just my thoughts.

Lack of votes. We need some more people to vote. Bump. :)

Currently 8-7 in favor of Cakes after discounting Jake's vote.

This is a great matchup but I don't see how you stop Rice and Warfield With Staubach and Jurgensen throwing shots down the field.

By covering them with Willie Brown, Mel Blount and Paul Krause. 229 interceptions within my secondary.
