I live in FL and can't think of a single person who actually follows/roots for the Jags. It's all Bucs and Phins down here.
Chris Johnson hadn't touched a football field since last season. And the Jets run game was shut down last week against a much better coached defense with the best pass rusher in football. What do the Jaguars have to match up with Ware? One of your starting corners was taken off of our trash heap. If McCown gets out of there without an injury I'd consider it a win since he's your self anointed Pro-Bowl QB.
Are you really using Team Stats in an argument during Week 2? Also, we rushed for 45 yards in Week 1 and still won.
Amazing stats! All based on last week's game against the mighty TN Titans? Sounds like you guys have this one in the bag.
And I thought the Patriots already won the Super Bowl. Move over teams, the Jaguars are your 2012 Champs.
If we lose trust me I'll come eat the crow. But if we win you'll be seeing me for the rest of the week.
I won't be seeing you regardless. I don't plan on going down to your RV camp grounds. Just out of curiosity, which message board do you post on?
The Jets offense has evolved. They threw the ball 44 times and ran 15. They don't have to be run first anymore, even though I'd like them to stay that way. Sanchez can air it out, and his weapons far exceed the talent of the Jags defense. The Jags have a front 4 that is formidable, but they're young in the interior of the DL. Cox is out, and Coleman is good on the outside from what I remember. But he's not in the Jets system anymore. I don't know if he'll have the same success. The Titans got shut down for two reasons - CJ just came back from a holdout, and they don't have Jeff Fisher to prepare them in a lockout year. Munchak has a lot to prove. What will keep this game close is the bizzare fact that the Jags play the Jets well and beat them regularly, but with McCown as the QB and Mike Thomas becoming a non-factor due to Revis, I don't see how the offense can move the ball offensively. MJD is going to need to have a monster game against a defense that stopped the run the same way it has done since Rex has been the HC. Luke McCown is not Garrard. Garrard, as bad as he became, offered an extra dynamic to the Jags passing game since he was mobile and tough. The intangible of the Jets evolving into a comeback team in the 4th quarter cannot be overlooked. Its not luck when you are able to do it that many times, and clearly it wasn't a 1 year fluke.
People need to remember that after the 1st quarter we completely shut MJD down, it's not like he ran over us consistently all game, we made adjustments and stopped him after he owned us on the opening drive.
That's a start. You want us to take you seriously, give us a reason. Don't just complain we're a confident bunch. Rex's philosophy has worn off on the fans and we love it. That said the board welcomes knowledgable fans of other teams, if you want to come here and debate with us we're happy to have you. If you're here to troll we'll give better than we get, don't think for a second we won't. Chris johnsons situation screams of darelle revis last year. He walked in late and was half his former self in week 1, week 2 he pulled a hammy. CJ2K is going through the same thing right now. His body just isn't in football shape. Meaning he won't be himself until week 4-5. Not to discredit the jags, but he just isn't right yet. If your run d is going to be elite this year, time will tell. Week 1 isn't proving anything to anyone here, and it shouldn't prove anything to jags fans either. If you shut us down with a healthy OL and healthy backs, then everybody will believe in your run d. Your pass d is solid. But our passing attack has to many weapons to contain everybody. How can you contain burress and Holmes outside with Keller and Cumberland in 2 te sets with LT out of the backfield? It's going to be a tall task, especially if we find success on the ground early. Fun week 1 stat for you since you like them so much. Mark Sanchez had a perfect passer rating on play action pass week 1. That's a 158.3 rating on PA passes against Dallas. That's without a run game. If we can run it early on you, the PA pass game could give you nightmares.
Why do you Jag fans keep bringing up the 2009 game? You don't even have the same QB, we didn't have Plax or Santonio back then not to mention cromartie.
1-0 in the playoffs versus you guys...when it matters. not to mention the VINCE LOMBARDI TROPHY SITTING IN OUR FACILITY!
One slight advantage that we have this week that Dallas didn't have is fresh game film on Sanchez and his PA tendencies. You don't go into NY and not respect the running game's ability to break one for 6 and Dallas clearly respected it. But I think that our d-line will be able to contain and penetrate enough to where LBs can focus on play recognition and getting into place at the right time. Expect alot of attempts to the outside and off-tackle to be more successful than up the middle runs.
