Am I correct that if one were interested in gaining draft resources in a trade down it would be very significant and give the Jets a lot more leverage/options if the Seattle pick ended up ahead of the Carolina pick? The exact slot might not be as significant but if our 2nd pick is ahead of Carolina another team after a QB would potentially actually pay something to hop in front of Carolina right? Maybe the Jets wouldn't even be interested anyway but I think that would be a thing.
For sure. Looking at the top 8, Carolina would be the only team as of right now that would look at QB's IMO. However, after Chicago at 8 you have quite a few teams that might want to take a shot at a QB. WFT (9th), Atlanta (10th), Denver (11th), and New Orleans (15th) are the most obvious ones. If we can't get up to 3 and get a shot at Hutchinson or Thibodeaux, I'd be more inclined to trade down from 4 than 7. Mainly because I think the return would be massive, especially if one of those teams fell in love with Pickett or Corral. If I'm JD, I try like hell to trade with Denver and get their 1st (11th), both of their 2nds (42nd & 62nd), and one or both of their 3rds (77th & 94th). Might be able to get more depending on how much they like a QB but that should be the minimum IMO.
Yah…as much as I want the better pick, I would not be pissed if we beat the Bills and screwed them a little bit…like they beat us in 2015. Not as significant obviously because they’re in the playoffs no matter what, but would still be nice
Beating the Bills in their home, hurting their playoff seeding, and Zach Wilson having a great game while outplaying Allen would be the proper way to head into the offseason, while hopefully retaining #4 with the other scenarios playing out. Plenty of great players in the top 5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll wait until after the Texans game to decide if I'm rooting for a win or loss. If Houston loses, I'd rather beat Buffalo. But if Houston wins, I'd really like the third pick. Better chance at one of the pass rushers.
You can forget trading up in the 1st again. That's not in JD's nature, nor should it be. We'll either take who falls to us at #3 or #4 or trade down if the opportunity presents itself.
Beating Buffalo would be meaningless to me, and to at least some of the Jets, as many of them will not be back next season. Getting the higher draft pick at this point is much more important to the future of the team not only as to who might be there at our pick in each round of the draft, but also because of trade down potential. Trading down and getting 3-4 extra high picks or not having to miss out on one or more players the team wanted to draft will help this team a lot more than beating the Bills will.
No chance Jets beat Buffalo with all these injuries. Seattle most likely loses as well but I don't see our picks changing.
I said a year ago in these forums that I had a feeling that Seattle was going to struggle and/or Russell Wilson get hurt. I said it wouldn't surprise me if the Seahags pick was Top 10. Hope I'm right !!
Yeah, the theoretical fall in the Seahags pick could be BIGGER than the fall in the Jets pick (if they won). 4 vs. 6 matters...but 7 vs. 13 might matter more !!
Don't forget....Panthers lose again, their 2nd Rounder we own moves UP !!!!!!!!!! We could have 4 picks in Top 40 !
