This is what has given me pause in thinking that the Pats would lay down for the Jets in Week 17 to keep them from getting Lawrence. If the Jets were heading into the game at 1-14, I'd be much more in on the idea that Belichick would tank the game with situation being the same as it currently is in every other aspect. But, he's not going to want the stain on his legacy of being the only team that the Jets beat in what would otherwise be a winless campaign. He doesn't want to be the answer to the trivia question, "Which team was the only team to lose to the 2020 New York Jets?"
I think what the Jags did was extremely suspect-- Started Glennon vs. the softest part of their schedule...again if the NFL would penalize someone they should penalize the Jags. We have started Darnold every game he's been healthy....we could gt away with starting Morgan the last game to evaluate a 4th rounder....it's not rocket science.
Honestly we should start Morgan even if the number 1 pick has already been decided. Because there's no sense in risking injury to a guy we're considering trading.
The old man doesn't have to worry about the Jets again until 2022 or 2023 best case scenario. That's IF they don't Jet things up again. With covid going around who knows if he'll be coaching then? He's in a very high risk category. I think he trades for Wentz and/or Darnold in 2021 tries to make one last run or two before stepping aside for good.
I agree they could have pulled a loss out of the bag here if they'd actively TRIED to lose. But who thought Sam wouldn't throw a boneheaded interception in the last few minutes?
We saw the Sam that still has promise, this Sam we could have worked with by trading away our 1 or 2 but this Sam only appears once every 4 or 5 games. It is such a shame really. Fuck you Gase QB destroyer.
Except the contention in our discussion was the claim we were an up and down team. We aren’t; we are a down team with so few examples of being up that there is no honest way to interpret that as up and down within the accepted use of that phrase. yesterday’s game doesn’t change that.
