Chiefs Fg try would have been a real FU to Steelers, since Chargers could have run out the clock and gotten in w/A tie
Bill Leavy continues to be an incompetent moron. Flag is thrown for Daniel throwing a pass past the line of scrimmage. Pass is incomplete and Leavy just runs off the field rather than announcing the penalty and that it would be declined.
Chargers have won 5 of 6, but given how most of KC's good players weren't playing, they'll probably have to be a lot better next week to have a chance to win. Except, of course, Andy Dalton could always throw 3 or 4 picks.
Further shows that you should not give our automatic berths to division winners. An 8-7-1 Packers team gets homefield advantage over a 12 win team. Arizona 10 wins and no playoffs and Green Bay gets in with 8. Such a joke.
Agreed. I wouldn't be shocked if the 49ers fall victim to the wild card road loss. We see it with the Saints losing to Seattle, then the Steelers losing to Denver. Would not be shocked if Green Bay finally gets by San Francisco despite Green Bay having 8 wins an San Fran having 12.
Dates havent been set. I think NBC chooses the Saturday Night game. NBC likely takes an NFC game. CBS will have to choose and I bet they go with the Indy/Chiefs for Sunday at 4:15. The likely schedule is: Bengals/Chargers 3:30 Saturday 49ers/Packers: 6:30 Saturday Saints/Eagles: 1:00 Sunday Chiefs/Colts: 4:00 Sunday If Dallas does win though they would likely get the Saturday night game imo.
Can't do that without making even schedules. EDIT: Unless you do division winners always get in, but seeding is decided by winning %.
Way it needs to be done is the TOP SIX teams of each conference get the playoffs and seeding is determined as such by record/head to head etc. You can't take advantage of your lousy division to stack up on wins, that's too bad. We NFL fans wanna see the best 12 teams dance in the playoffs, not watch a team luck out by playing in a shit division. The JETS are .5 away from what the Packers had and the Packers didn't have to play the Patriots 2x. The Lions outta be ashamed of themselves for not getting to .500 in that shit division.
You can't change who you play schedule wise but you can just take the 6 best records of each conference. That's how it should be done. If a team can't pad wins by feasting off their lousy division, then that's a problem in itself and that team probably has no part in belonging in the playoffs. The playoffs reward the best of the best and the Packers(Or Cowboys) don't fall under that....not like Arizona. Arizona got to 10 wins in spite of a 13 and 12 win team lurking in their division.
Green Bay opened and closed the season with the Niners in 2012. Same thing will occur in 2013 unless they can finally overcome the 49ers who have dominated them.
Denver is a vulnerable one seed. With Von Miller hurt and Welker hurt that's tough. They have 3 losses on the year, all to playoff teams (NE, IND, SD) and SD beat them in Denver, their only home loss.
Either SD, KC, or Indy will be heading to Denver in 2 weeks. Clearly all 3 are capable of beating Denver, KC being the least favorite though.
Then you want to get rid of divisions basically and just have NFC play each NFC team once (Although it brings up the question of HF) and have the top 6 teams advance. You can't take overall record and have uneven schedules, that would make no sense
