Remember what the CEO said. He needed to see improvement. So if Bowles goes 6-10 instead of 5-11 or 4-12, he's met the criteria minuscule as it may be.. There is the outside chance Blowes keeps his job simply because our ownership is eternally football challenged. It doesn't really matter to them if Blowes stays or goes because either way, they'll make another mountain of cash no matter what happens. The suckers will always believe and shell out their buks. Just the way it is.
Oh yeah! That 41-0 game was amazing. I really thought after that the Jets would be a buzzsaw that could win the Super Bowl. Next week in Oakland it was 10-10 at half time, then the wheels fell off in the 2nd half. Still a great run!
No way. It's over. However, beating Rodgers and the Packers, then Brady and the Patriots, to finish (6-10) and then retaining Bowles, would be the Jetsiest thing in Jets history. So you are right, it can't be completely ruled out. I'd say 99.9% though.
Same here. I still have the Post somewhere in my basement for the Colts blowout. Big picture of Penny on the front page. https://nypost.com/cover/post-covers-on-january-5th-2003/#
Nice idea for off-season thread, DK. Gastineau roughing the passer against Cleveland gets my vote. I put it over Butt Fumble because of the stakes.
I was at that Jets/Packer game in 2002 got the tickets from a family friend. Hands down the greatest sports event I’ve ever attended live. If I recall the Browns needed to lose to Atlanta or the Pats to the Dolphins for us to clinch a playoff spot. Going into the stadium things did not look good but then the big Pats comeback and OT win and the stadium went nuts. I remember the game was maybe 14-10 Jets at the half then Jets and Pennington really just cruised in second half and it was a real party in the stadium. Chad was really great that year and I really thought we had a truly great franchise qb. Unfortunately the following year in the preseason started the the injuries and he was just never the same. But boy that was a great time to be a Jets fan
I remember tailgating for that game. I was 12 or 13 years old and we had the TV set up in the back of the truck during the tailgate. As people kept walking by us More and more kept stopping to watch what was going on in those games. When the clock hit 0:00 all you could hear was a tremendous roar from the stadium and everywhere in the parking lot. It was truly amazing.
I was in Sec 338 row 10 until I gave up my season tics. Those were great seats I use stubhub and it’s down to 49 before fees so it’s still above 60 after fees. I park by the izod and pay 40 cash for parking so it is what it is on that. If it stays at 49 I ain’t going
I also stayed in the lot and watched that game on tv until it ended and then went in. That was a great day
Jags playoff game was the most electric game I ever witnessed. Hard to imagine the colts playoff game was our last home playoff game. That is fucking pathetic.
I still have that Jets/Colts ticket stub. Warner Wolf on the news with highlights that night (Chad to Coles): "Chad, it's not supposed to be that easy!" We were ecstatic. Sigh.
And because the butt fumble isn’t really that big of a deal. Had it been any other team it would have just been a broken play that never got mentioned after the next snap.
Cursed by inept coaching staff, rookie performance, and poor player execution this team faces another team with no current playoff hopes. Just win. GO JETS!!!
Packers are 0-7 on the road this season. Since 1958, Packers haven't gone 0-8. Rodgers says they don't want their names next to 1958. But I still expect Sam to out duel him. Come on Jets, for once send Packers to the wrong side of the history.
