I Believe! The fact is ... we have better personnel than Atlanta and Cincy. I don't care what Cincy has on the table in week 17. With everything on the line, we should beat them in our own building... especially with Revis shutting down Ocho-Jackass. Atlanta is god-awful against the run, so we should be able to control the ball on offense, and put enough pressure on a young, hobbled QB to get the win. I give us a fighting chance against the Colts. I watched them against Denver yesterday, and they didn't look invincible to me. Keep in mind, they've trailed in the 4th Q plenty of times this year, and hopefully if we can get a late lead, Peyton won't be around to bail them out.
If all that does happen we are in- I still am very confident we will be the 6 seed when it's all said and done. The Ravens have been very inconsistent, Miami is definitely losing at least 1 of their final 3 games. The Jags have the Colts and the Pats, and finish up at Cleveland. So are chances seem pretty bright right now, at least from my POV.
I just have a good feeling about getting the help we need, even with the bad tie-breakers. The important thing is to have meaningful games, it sucks when we're just playing them out. Like the finale last year when we already knew we were toast, even Favre's inspirational pre-game speech couldn't rally the troops.
A chicago win over Baltimore would be enormous in helping us get in. With this scenario we could even get in with 9 wins. It's not likely, but possible.
I can still see us getting in with 9 wins, it's not impossible. You have to lose that sig man, you're killing me. Welcome to the board but please get rid of that thing.
One thing to note. If this happens: BAL, NE, MIA lose NYJ win We control our destiny because JAX play NE in week 16. DEN, JAX, CIN losses also help.
AFC Playoff Race Outlook COLTS are in Bengals are 99% likely to get in. Chargers are 99.99999999% likely to get in. This leaves the AFC East spot up for grabs and 2 Wild Card spots. CONTENDERS New England (8-5): @Buff, JAX, @Hou Denver (8-5): OAK, @PHI, KC Baltimore (7-6): CHI, @ PITT, @OAK Miami (7-6): @TENN, Hou, Pitt Jax (7-6): IND, @NE, @Cle Jets (7-6): Atl, @IND, Cin Jets win AFC East IF: Jets go 3-0, NE 1-2, MIA 2-1 or NYJ 2-1, NE 0-3, AND MIA 1-2 Jets win WC IF: Jets 3-0, and BAL, MIA, JAX lose 1 game. OR Jets 2-1, and BAL, MIA, JAX, all lose 2 games If Jets finish 9-7, JAX is likely to lose twice, Miami likely to lose once..maybe twice, and Baltimore HAS lose to Chicago this week. If Baltimore beats CHI this Sunday, we virtually have no shot at making it in with 9 wins.
I like this last one... pretty funny... LOL Excellent post though, FiremanEd. It sure is confusing as hell and you've helped clear it up. God, I hate this though. Every year, same old crap... wind up rooting for who TF knows who just to have a shot. Are we ever going to maintain control of our own destiny?
We controlled it last year, look how well we did with it. As soon as I sent in my playoff money it went straight down the shitter.
We should be rooting for the Chargers, not the Bengals. The Ravens could still win division and with a win the Jets would get a tie-breaker over Cincy.
Thanks for this post! I'm pretty sure nobody here realized that there's a chance we could still control our own destiny as soon as next week. At least, I didn't realize. Pretty cool thought.
Predictions for Week 15: Jets 23 Atlanta 17 Titans 31 Fins 24 Ravens 20 Bears 17 Colts 27 Jax 21 Pats 21 Bills 10
Fact: The Jets have a 21.817% chance to make the playoffs. I know that because I clicked this link: www.makeNFLplayoffs.com
That percentage is incorrect in the long run. As of right now maybe so, but next week if we win our percentages will go up by a good chunk 10-20% I have no doubts. Simply because at least one of the following will lose, Baltimore, Jacksonville, Miami, New England, Denver. Any of them lose and they start to fall back to the pack with us, I seriously doubt everyone of them including us wins this weekend.
