What a bizarre sequence here. Miller is 1/2 yard short on the TD, and as a result there are now two guys down. The helmet went flying off before he crossed the goal line, so this still shouldn't count as a TD.
What a ridiculous rule. The guy, even semi-unconscious, took it in...touchdown! How the hell can it not be?? It's just continuation of the play.
They might as well have given the kid a TD, not as if losing his helmet helped him get it in the endzone...make it like a foul in the act of shooting in basketball where the result of the play counts if it's positive and doesn't count if not.
These kickers have one damn job - KICK THE DAMN BALL. And he BARELY kicks it more than five yards? Idiot.
your suggestion flies in the face of why the rule exists. It exists partially so players won't try to keep going after losing their helmet. Like Shockey and Witten famous plays after losing their helmets, they keep trying to break tackles. It's nothing like a foul in basketball.
It reminds me of a closer walking in the winning run. No chance if you can't get the 10 yards! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
