You're right, I don't think anyone is saying he is above average. In Chan Gaileys system he has 73 TDs, 10 fumbles and 64 int which is almost one for one. An average around 80 Passer rating and 220 points per game. I would say that's about an average NFL QB which I am happy to have since Genos stats are worse as far as passer rating avg around 71 but he has fumbled 16 times in two years, 6 more times than Fitzpatrick did in 4. He also has thrown 34 int in that time. He was also sacked 71 times for almost 500 yards in his two years where Fitz was sacked 106 times for 581 yards in 4 years. I'll take the average QB all day over Geno holding onto the ball too long and making bad decisions both on and off the field.
Soooo.... Has there been any new information to support the thread title or is still just a tweet from some doctor ? Is love for geno to at least be back at the training facility working on mental reps, film, or at least just supporting his teammates .
One thing I've learned arguing about football: never argue with the people who love quarterback X no matter what. There are still people in the Oakland forums who think Jamarcus Russell didn't get a fair shot. Ron
I think Mac said that Geno will likely not be ready until after week 4, so yeah... This thread is probably defunct at this point.
He was more physically gifted than Fitz. But you can't rule out Fitz having a ridiculous season. Every so often a journey man has one of those out of body seasons.
On a more serious note..............What are the chances of Geno being the starter for the Miami game at Wembley? I'm reluctant to shell out if Geno is out there facing down Suh.
I'm predicting Genos gonna come back Week 4 and have a pro bowl calibar season leading the Jets to the playoffs winning the hearts and minds of Jets fans everywhere J/K
While there is a decent chance that Geno will be starting by then, there is probably also a chance that Suh will be suspended by then.
I completely agree with both points of your post! He will have a pro bowl caliber season with Jeremy Kerley playing a big role.
We're totally scrwd. Fitz sucks. Geno sucks. And we won't even have the less suckier QB until Week 4. We ain't going anywhere until we can actually get a decent QB.
Pretty sad that an average QB with a 1:1 TD to turnover ratio excites me. At the end of the day Geno needs to grow up (not much time left) if he wants to succeed. Maybe he has and im just being dumb, but no other QB in the league gets knocked out regardless of whose fault it was.
Geez, I can see the line forming now. It'll be like that scene in Airplane with everyone trying to calm down the lady freaking out.... if you remember the scene just replace the lady with Geno in your mind's eye. Now that'd be cool, right?
He averaged 225 ypg the first 4 which is close to the 223 ypg he put up for the year. If he could put up those numbers, not the 180 ypg you hypothesized, and keep a decent TD to INT ratio, I think he could keep us in most games if the D plays up to expectations. It really sucks that I can actually look at 225 ypg as acceptable but for now until we know what we have in Petty or if Geno makes a miraculous turn around that is what we are looking at.
Mac said Geno sitting 4 weeks at least ... so i doubt he starts week 1.. and unless Fitz is really killing it i think he gets his job back and goes on the best 12 game streak of his career!
