game over. They had virtually no chance anyway, but the incompletion seals it. Bears pull off the biggest upset of the day, surpassing Carolina.
Who would have thought The Panthers to win in Southern Cal and The Bears to smash the Colts into submission in Indy. 'That's why they play the game'...I think I may have been utterly dominated in the pool this week
The Eagles and Patriots were the way to go in survival pools. The Missouri teams are straight ass, especially the Rams.
Three of the best pass rushers in action tonight- Jared Allen, Vikings Aaron Kampman, Packers Elvis Dumervil, Broncos Note: I wrote "pass rushers" for a reason. From a pure pass rushing standpoint, Dumervil is top 5 in the league in my book. He wouldn't make my top 5 defensive ends list because he is not a complete player. From a pure pass rush standpoint, though, the guy is excellent. He combines great speed, strength and technique to be able to beat a lot of linemen one-on-one.
Honestly I pretty much hate all these teams playing tonight, but I'm just excited for some football...ah, so glad it's back.
Score at halftime: 10-3 Packers Score at halftime of Brett Favre's first start against the Steelers? 10-3 Packers. First drive of the second half results in a Longwell FG. 10-6.
A 68 yard TD pass to Donald Driver was nullified because Tony Moll was too far downfield. drive resulted in a punt instead.
How pathetic is Tavarious Jackson? What is Minnesota thinking about letting him even play? They could go get a walk on at this moment and play him next week and he wouldn't be this bad.
He doesn't put proper touch on some throws. But, just like last year, his receivers are little help to him. Berrian trips on what would have been a TD. Shiancoe and Berrian fucked up on that pass in the end zone. Mills just whiffed on an excellent pass. Gee whiz. Catch the f'in' ball.
play action pass on 4th and inches results in a 22 yard TD pass to Rice. 17-12 and they're going for 2.
I don't know how many times this has happened and I don't know of the most recent time, unless it was the JAX-BUF Week 1 game of 2004. That game ended on a very similar play. Jacksonville beat Buffalo on a 7-yard touchdown pass to Ernest Wilford in Week 1 of the 2004 season. Jacksonville won 13-10 as time expired. The Bills were leading 10-6 when Jacksonville got the ball at their own 20 with 2:07 remaining. On a 4th-and-goal with :04 on the clock, Byron Leftwich threw a pass into triple coverage to rookie Wilford for the game-winning TD. After 2 career games, Ernest Wilford had 2 receptions for 19 yards and 2 game-winning touchdowns. (The other TD came in the 2nd quarter of a game Jacksonville won, 7-6.) I think Atlanta beat New Orleans in the Superdome on a Big Ben to Alfred Jackson as time expired in 1978. The Falcons won the game 20-17. In a 1983 home game vs San Francisco, the Falcons were trailing 24-21. Steve Bartkowski connected with Billy (White Shoes) Johnson on a Big Ben touchdown, I think as time expired. Johnson caught the ball on a deflection at the 5-yard line. He had to then go backwards a few yards to get around a pile. When he got back to the 5, he began a dive and a twist into the end zone. It is one of the best plays in league history, in my opinion. It gets overlooked in large part because it was a regular season game. Minnesota defeated Cleveland in 1980 on a Hail Mary caught by Ahmad Rashad. That was the final play of the game. Minnesota won 28-23.
24-18 Packers. Vikings onside kick. Leverage penalty on extra point gives the Vikings the kickoff at their own 45. If they recover, they'll have an excellent chance. But the ball deflects out of bounds and the Packers will be able to run out the clock. 12 penalties for 120 yards for GB
wow, what a huge penalty for Tauscher. Stops the clock for the Vikings and now they have the ball with time.
