I . . . will . . . not . . . watch . . . either. The would be like rubbernecking at your own ejected dead body on the freeway after a ten car pile up. Tackles on that play, there weren't any. It was like Football Follies, but worse. If I recall, it was the longest TD from scrimmage in 49rs history. Why are records always against the fuggin' Jets? For real, can anyone answer this? Anyone at all? I can't recall what year it was now or who we were playing at the moment, but my rabid Jets fan friend, Vinnie, called me up and was laughing so hard he could barely talk (the same Vinnie who sat with his head in his hands in Penn Station over Barry Sanders). "DID YOU SEE THAT?!" "Yes, I saw it! What the frig?!" There was a Coca-Cola commercial on TV during a Jets away game, and of course they show the Jets getting demolished in the commercial, you know, HIGHLIGHTS. Jesus H, really? You can't script it. Someone in the advertising Studio was definitely trolling. I can't be the only one who remembers that. As to who is going to win this matchup, I guess I'll go with 20-13 Jets. Probably because I'm a world class idiot.
- I think Darnold plays so-so, taking a number of sacks and throwing a couple of picks but also a couple of touchdowns. Lions 28 - Jets 17. I'll just be happy that football is back.
I know that back in 1970 our N.Y Jets vs. the Cleveland Browns was the 1st ever NFL Monday Night Football game and also a season opener for our Jets. But have we ever played another season opener on Monday Night Football? I can't remember ever experiencing one within my lifetime. I remember against the Washington Redskins we opened our season off on a Thursda Night Football game but what about Monday Night season openers? Or was 1970 again Cleveland our last ever Monday Night season opener?
Good call. I just had to double check I guess our offense was so bad that night it's been blocked out of memory (10-9 loss). Nonetheless it's not often we start off our season on Monday Night Football so I'm really excited. So far I've counted Cleveland of 1970 and Baltimore of 2010 (0-2 so we're due). Hopefully againt Detroit we earn our 1st ever Monday Night Season opener victory .

Watched that one recently on YouTube. The big topic in the booth was Riggins hold-out and lack of training camp. Then he lost an early fumble. Looking back at those years, I can't understand why Namath used a 7 step drop on every passing play with those knees of his. Also, I guess no one realized that maybe with Joe's injuries, the Jets should have a competent back-up. Makes you wonder how much difference a more innovative HC would have made a difference. Back to the topic - This game scares me because of Sam, but I guess I'd feel the same no matter who we were playing against. I can't even make a prediction. The only prediction I'll make is that I will dislike the announcers.
Vegas is crazy thinking we will lose this by a TD. Put $100 on Jets covering the spread. We shall see/
Burning question. Why is Robby Anderson wearing a down jacket with the hood up like he's headed to an arctic expedition in the middle of the Summer? There's no punchline here. It's a bonafide burning question.
Monday Night seems so close, yet so far away! Can't wait. No Marcus Maye will hurt, but the Jets secondary is strong. If he is not 100%, I say sit him til he is, which is what the Jets look like they will do. Kearse playing will be nice. I saw he was limited today, so he has a good chance. I have a good feeling about the game.
Martin is OUT, Maye and Kearse DOUBTFUL. That is bad news, but on the other hand: there is a good chance all 3 will be back next Sunday as the Jets host the Dolphins. They will be missed Monday Night, but I think the Jets can win without them.
Maye is the big blow here. Martin is a JAG and can be replaced by JAGS. We’re 3 deep at receiver to cover for the loss of Kearse. But Maye going down shifts the entire DB depth chart. At least Beachum sounds ready to play.
