exactly we cant take a banged up fringe playoff team with a new defense installed 7 weeks ago? meanwhile staring at any of the SD, BAL, or NE games in that stretch.
I'm not expecting our offense to light it up on the Cowboys even though they're banged up. We started pretty slow last season in a high-profile game, and I can imagine the same thing happening again this season.
Thats definitely possible. And yeah, no doubt the Jets will be able to play better than they did Week 1 last year.
Dallas fan here... I think that the one big advantage that Dallas has over the Jets is at QB... Nobody seems to mention Romo being a good deal better than Sanchez... Not that Sanchez isn't okay at what he's asked to do, but he's nowhere near the play-maker that Romo is... In the last full season (2009) that Romo played, he was 3rd in yards, 8th in QB Rating, and had a 3/1 TD to INT ratio... Last year, Sanchez was 16th in yards, 27th in QB Rating, and had a TD to INT ratio of 1.3/1... Both teams have good receivers, but the Jets obviously have much better secondary play... This will somewhat offset Romo's advantage over Sanchez... Of course the Jets will also be sending a swarm of rushers at Romo, I don't doubt that he'll get hit and sacked some, but I'm hoping he won't get hurt or fumble... If he can manage those two things, and the Jets don't score on defense, then Dallas will have a good chance... Meanwhile, D Ware is a beast for the Boys... However the Dallas secondary was just pathetic last season, so that should help Sanchez some too... It's hard to say what kind of defensive effort you'll get from Dallas... In 2009, only the Jets allowed fewer points than Dallas... But in 2010, Dallas 31st in points allowed! From 2nd best, to 2nd to last, in one year, with pretty much the exact same players! So I don't expect they'll be the 2009 squad, but I've gotta think they have the ability to be a hell of a lot better than they were in 2010.... I think Romo will make enough plays to keep the game close, and in the 4th quarter, he will win the game for Dallas...
Like you said your biggest advantage (romo over sanchez) is negated by our exceptional secondary and the fact romo will be on his back all day long. Coupled with your banged up secondary, Sanchez will have an easier time of things. I would not be shocked at all, if sanchez has the statistically better day sunday just based on matchups. Romo is still the better QB, but Sanchez just may have a better day. I would like to see the Jets destroy the boys, but I also want a really competitive close game. I believe the recent injuries to dallas will give the jets the win in the end, as they just don't have enough players in certain areas.
You don't mention the running game or offensive line anywhere in your post. you seem nice enough, so i won't flame you, but if i were a cowboys fan i'd be pissing my pants over a young, unproven offensive line that has had almost zero time to work together. couple that with the injury at RT and the fact Dallas won't be able to run, Romo could be in for a very long (or short) day. You mention the receivers, and how poor your secondary is...but you also don't mention how GOOD our secondary is, negating your receivers. If cro is on dez, he might get burned a couple of times here or there, but he won't have a monster game overall. The only guy who really has the potential to hurt us is Witten Dallas is going to have a tough time. There's no two ways about it. too much uncertainty and inexperience at crucial positions
That's what a good Dallas fan should think. Unfortunately, the reality of this game will play itself out Sunday night. You have three new OL players that have a total of 1 NFL game among them. Romo will be lucky if he lives through the first series he plays.
idk what to expect because i don't take take anything in the preseason seriously. I didn't see anything impressive anyways, other than Plax's first game I'll just watch and see on sunday
On one hand, there are certainly some question marks for the Jets coming out of pre-season. But on the other the Jets SHOULD run right over Dallas. Should win by at least ten.
Yea Romo is a big deal better than Sanchez. Romo and all 1 of his playoff wins despite being in the league for over twice as long as Sanchez.
