Meh. That cuts both ways. You have personal knowledge of examples showing he really is a great leader? So we go by what we see as fans. How awful. It must be nice to have your insider knowledge.
When is the last time you saw a QB eating on the sidelines? When is the last time you saw an offense explode in the huddle? When is the last time you saw a QB laughing and having a good time with the freakin' ballboy during a potential win-and-your-in last game of the season? The other reason you're struggling to comprehend how someone can watch hours of TV and come up with a decision is A. you're more than likely a dipshit. B. You're not a military veteran, or have worked in leadership positions for the past 20 years, or been a leader of any kind-as I have. Anyone that's been around a true leader knows how they look and act. No decent leader I've been around acts like Sanchez. That's not saying he can't change, it's just that Rex has coddled the crap out of this little snot-nose and everyone knows it...accept you I guess.
I hope the media will be disappointed this year. Although in 2010-2011 season where the whole media was against us, we went 11-5 so who knows.
Another person backtracks. Steve Weatherford @Weatherford5 Dear bloggers, Mark Sanchez will make people forget about Tebow, but the competition will sharpen him. He has what is takes to be great.
So your criteria for a leader is whether they eat on the sidelines, or laugh? As for the offense "exploding," I recall it being only one player with a history of being a diva. How about how many players who aren't leaders invite their teammates out to practice during the off-season? By all accounts from the coaches he is the first person in the building, and last one out. How many people who aren't leaders do that? How about reaching out to Chad Pennington in the offseason for advice on the playbook and the NY media? That's called leading by example. He needs to play better, no doubt about that. But to say he doesn't have leadership qualities is too dismissive. He's a young person and a young player, and he still needs to grow as both, but the seeds are there for him to be a great player, person, and leader.
 at the hotdog eating comment. Like is that even serious? I've seen plenty of players eat on the sideline. Having fun is part of the game of football. If you aren't having fun, you might as well hang the white flag. HOW DARE SANCHEZ LAUGH WITH A BALL BOY AND EAT A HOT DOG!!!! TERRIBLE LEADER  I swear there are way too many drama queen fans.
Weatherford should just concentrate on the down and distance before running a fake. And remember to take of his watch and rings before holding the snaps. And shut up.
And nobody on this board has been anywhere near the Jets locker room ever - so how the hell do any of you/us know anything about what kind of leader Sanchez is??????? Nothing.
@Weatherford5: I expected a little more out of @RichCimini but the article was totally one sided. I have alot of respect for Mark Sanchez For what it's worth he seemed angry at guess who!? on twitter.
Once again, we are caught in the trap of forming our opinions based upon what the director of a tv show wants you to think. And for the record, I have seen players eating, smoking, peeing, laughing, arguing and puking on the sidelines, among other things.
So now Weatherford is saying that the interview was taken out of context. I somewhat believe that, but now he needs to stop talking about the Jets. He no longer works for them.
It never fails someone says something negative about the jets and the fans here get upset. IMO it's not that serious.
Why are people freaking out over Weatherford giving his honest opinion?.. which BTW is a legitimate opinion. The Jets sucked last season. If you suck in any aspect of your job, you deserve criticism. Honest constructive criticism is a good thing, because if you listen and learn from it and change your actions accordingly, you can improve your job performance. The Sanchezistas need to chill out and realize that Weatherford might have a legit opinion (even if he is a jerk who killed us w/ fake punts and shanks)
This is just another example of the NY media trying there best to show or even create a QB controversy that doesn't exist. Cimini picked out the negative quote and made it look like that was the entire interview. Maybe tomorrow he'll do the opposite with Tebow and run the the positive quote. We will continue to see this all season.
For what it's worth, I loved Weatheford and was sorry to see him go. I loved the way he was like a 5th linebacker on punts...dude could LEVEL a ball carrier, and was always looking to do so. How many times have you seen the kicker 'step out of the way'. Not Wethy. I would be thrilled to get him back.
