Weatherford had a pro bowl caliber year in 2010, he just blew it in the playoffs. I'm shocked that he'd talk crap about Westoff. He's a great coach.
Weatherford was a pretty good punter for us. Just from what I've heard is that Westhoff isnt as respected around the league as everyone thinks he is. He tries to be the star of the show, overshadow the other coaches etc...and rubs a lot of people the wrong way.
He's a great coach, and also a grouchy bastard. Some people have a higher tolerance for that type of coach than others. Plus, most ST players that don't kick or punt can graduate to either the defensive or offensive units and lower the time they have to spend on ST duties. Kickers and punters cannot escape Mike Westhoff. He's a great coach that by his own admission doesn't like anybody.
Not to mention he bashed Weatherford in the press after they let him go. I don't blame Weatherford for taking a shot back.
Totally agreed. I don't remember Feely crying about Westy being a dick to him. But then, as junc said, Westy never put Feely on blast after he was on another team. I'd prefer the thicker skinned types on the team. It's bad enough that the QB gets that red-headed stepchild attitude when he loses 3 snaps in practice.
He had a great game last night and was worlds better than his replacement. Westy is a great coach, but weatherford looks like a mistake at this point.
Over the course of time. nothing is so infuriating than the player who can't come through for you then excels on another team This has been the most disappointing year, and everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong, so why not have our ex-punter stick it to us too.
Sorry that Westoff made the punter work so hard. ---------------------------- hahahahaha so true!!!!!
The Giants don't get the safety if Weatherfords punt doesn't pin them so close to the goal line. and those 2 points were huge in the game. Pats had worse field postion then the Giants all game, again due to Weatherford.
