So in what ways were we outcoached? What decisions did we make that were wrong? How were we not prepared for the game? Can't just scream outcoached and not back it up.
I'm sorry, but the Jets didn't lose the QB battle today. Brady was efficient and didn't make mistakes, but he didn't beat the Jets. The Pats OL gave him all the time in the world, especially on those 3rd and longs. And NE had trouble in the red zone today also - at one point they were 2 of 5 and one of those was the TD at the end of the half that shouldn't have been. The Jets were outplayed, but not outcoached. Where does the pass rush come from on this team if the blitz is picked up? Did anybody hear Shaun Ellis' name today? Did he get within 5 feet of Brady? Why did we give him a$15 million bonus and a huge salary if he can't sack the QB??? That and the disparity in the running game made all the difference.
thats ridiculous. We just don't have the kind of defensive line they have. Brady is Brady. Look, we had a great season and we do need some more talent on defense plus a legit A running back.
I posted this in another thread but I'll repeat it again. If you paid attention you would have seen that when we didn't blitz and only rushed three we got absoluely no pressure and Brady still picked us apart even with all that coverage. The only way we stopped Brady all day was on the few blitzes that actually worked.
I agree. The seaon's over but I feel real good about next year. We were in this game for 3 quarters. We didn't have legit running game all year and our defense didn't get it done today. We can fix all this, fellas. Feel good about where we're going.
The title of this thread is horesh!t. The game was coached well enough to win but our personnel aren't as talented as the Patriots' players are. We'll make some changes and fix that by September and come back and sweep NE next year.
We don't have the same talent at some crucial positions that the Patriots have. Nor do we have the same level of PO experience they have. We surprised everyone in the NFL in no small part due to Mangini's guidance. To disparage that is a grave injustice to this Jets football organization. We lost to the better team today. Get past that and move into the future. Don't let the poison of "wudda cudda" cloud your vision and/or tempermant. This Jets team is far better than any of us thought. We didn't win this year but in this age of Parity, there really IS a next year. Take it from a 40 year Jet Fan... Chin Up Man! Things will get better!!
The Kevin Faulk touchdown play was inexcusable. Anyone who has watched enough of the pats know that swing pass to either Faulk or Patrick Pass. Considering Mangini is from the "Pats" system there is no way he should not have someone covering him.
It would of been better if we used Brad Smith a little more. This team is going to be better next year.
3 or 4 plays decided this game. IMHO The jets would have beat Indy yesterday. Herm E is not in Mangini's class. Jets have alot going for them. You played with toughness and intelligence. I don't like the idea that you'll proabaly be a better team next season. til then. BillyD
It definitely was not a case of being outcoached. Comes down to execution. Three big plays: 1.Jets recover a fumble on the 10yd line and settle for a FG. 2.PATRIOTS score just before the half 3. The lateral - Jets trailing 20-13 and driving. The Jets moved the ball very well. IF they get at least a FG out of that drive it's 20-16 with Jets kicking off and who knows.
why? for speaking my opinion? Don't get me wrong I very happy what the Jets did this year and can't wait until next season where we will be even better.
Two plays. The play fake on a CLEAR PASS - to Daniel Graham for a touchdown. Why did that linebacker bite on p/a in a clear passing situation? That's coaching. The second play is the swing pass to Kevin Faulk, where the quick snap by Brady caught the saftey still giving out signals, and way late to cover Faulk, who walked in standing up. That's coaching.
Outcoached?? It was 23-16 with 6 and change and the Pats made two plays..Your a basic negative guy and and your post as NO validity and PLEASE stop calling yourself a Jet fan and stop saying we because you have no connection with the team..Go Away
Good post Cman. Sometimes you just get outplayed. It happens and you learn from the experience. Next year they will make some more moves that will help us out in the positions that we are hurting in still. It says an awful lot about the coaching and front office staff we have in place to be able to band-aid this roster as well as they did all year, masking our weaknesses and playing with some balls. It is a good start to a new beginning. Have a rant and get over it. Next year will be even brighter.
Hey-BB has proven to be one of the greatest coaches in history. EM just completed his first year. Why shouldn't a "coaching edge", if you can really define that in yesterday's game, go to BB? Tom Brady has proven to be one of the great qb's in history, while CP, although good, does not really compare. The pats have proven to be one of the greatest teams the last few years, and maybe again this year, while we, over the same period can't win playoff games. So, no big deal we lost-any coach would have an almost impossible task of defeating a team they played for teh third time, on that team's home field, with all the advantages mentioned above. The real test for EM is now how he evaluates his players. BB cut Bledsoe, law, malloy and others, despite their strengths as players because, for whatever reason, he felt it was better for the team. He found replacement talent, including Brady and they might make the super bowl again. One of BB great strengths is realistically looking at his players and accurately determining who he keeps and who he needs to replace and getting those replacements. Herm was awful at this, just awful. Lets see how good EM is at determimg who goes/stays! It will be interesting.
we were not outcoached... come on - would you rather have that cluster %%$^$ in KC on our sidelines. its the talent level, bar none. and do not be fooled by the press conferences telling you about the lack of execution. execution stems from 2 things - talent and preparation. the jets have only 1/2 right now. jil
