lol the concept is simple the reality is not. The rest of the season boils down to THREE THINGS 1) the development of mark sanchez 2) seeing if we can sustain impressive DEF performances 3) seeing how the team rebounds under Rex
9-7 will more then likely be the record of the last wildcard team. Problem is, a) we are unlikely to get to 9 wins and b)even if we do we are unlikely going to have the tiebreaker nessasary to get that last spot. Our best chance is to win out which would most likely gaurantee a spot. I wouldn't exactly call that a good chance though.
Well I take the division record seriously, as these teams see each other all the time, and while changes are made from year to year, you can also find streaks and patterns lasting against divisional opponents from year to year. Teams know each other, and get in their heads somewhat. That being the case and looking ahead to next year, just wanting another win this year, a loss to Buffalo this week would put the Jets at a putrid 1-5 divisional record for the year. 2-4 is not much better, but it is better, so yeah, beat Buffalo.
A loss to the Bills puts us in last place in the AFC East and people are talking playoffs. A reasonable goal is to get to 8 and 8 with 3 out of 5 to end the season.
It's still nice to think we have a shot, and I'm no doubt on board until we are mathematically out of it. I'm really not too worried about any remaining game, the Colts have had to come from behind in the fourth quarter there past 5 games and sooner or later they're going to lose. The Bengals should be a interesting game, I think our defense matches up great against their offense, so it comes down to our offense being able to make plays and control the clock. Like everyone else said, one game at a time. Buffalo embarrassed Miami yesterday and Tampa almost beat the Falcons. I'm sure Mark has had his eye on this Buffalo game ever since that OT Field Goal was kicked.
you, along with most of the posters, seem to not have taken the time to read my post and my reasoning behind "good shot". and yes when i created this thread, atlanta trailed tampa with little time left, which is why I had them below .500, when they are now 6-5 and above .500. sorry for the mistake.
This. We have a shot at the playoffs, no doubt about it. A good shot? No. 3-5 teams have better chances than we do.. www.jetsdaily.com
Worry about the next game at hand: The Buffalo Bills After that, worry about Tampa Bay. If we continue to win, we will find a way in
re: Schein and Lucas as announcers. I like Ray. He's none too bright but he played and can speak from real experience. Schein on the other hand is a complete sh&*bag. He used to do his shtick on the radio for syracuse sports and he completely sucked. No talent a$$ clown who was born on third and wants everyone to think he hit a triple.
No chance I'm rooting for Indy over Tennessee. I'd rather see the Colts lose this game and the Titans lose to other teams down the stretch.
Yeah right. I also remember an 11-5 team missing out and a 12-4 team as a wildcard. I'm investing my emotions in a strong finish after an embarrassing two months. Any more than that and I'm wasting perfectly good hope.
And of course just last year 9-7 didn't make it, and the way the Jets were playing the last part of the season, it was something of a mixed bag they did not. Going 3-2 the rest of the way would be something reasonable to hope for, imo.
is that all? have we been watching the same football team? because the one i've been watching is not going to play error free enough to win any of them!
